Do people who apply for selective schools usually get in?

I think Selective entry for Year 11 is probably the easiest. I know a few people at my school (ranked 126 - so not that good) who weren't even in the top classes at my school, and still managed to get into selective schools. Makes me wish I applied for one last year. As for Years 7-10, I heard...

Scaling issue, help fellow 09ers! (or fellow members)

I'd give it a try. I mean, you can always drop it or the worst case scenario, you fail it. Most people don’t even get the opportunity to do a distinction course, so take it up while you have the chance. I know I want to do Philosophy and I’m gonna try and take it up, because if I do good, scales...

    Should i drop bio?

Hmm I'd keep biology... because thats probably your best scaling subject (either that or advanced english), however that's because you said you weren't failing it. If you think you're not doing as well in it, then drop it. Better if you ace the average subjects, then struggle in a better scaled...

Yeah, your gonna slaughter most ppl in the state, but then again... all of ruse slaughters the state. So I wouldn't be worrying, you're looking at 99+ for sure, unless you burn out too quickly.. so relax a bit.

    what's more important--rank or marks?

Well of course ranking is more important, but in saying that, you should always try and maximise your marks, because it's better to come first by 10 marks, then come first by 1 mark - gives you a bit more assurance you can keep your high ranking.

    Letter For Enrolment

Well I havent had to write an enrolment letter before but I think these tips would help: - write about why you want to be a student of the school/college you're applying for - write about why you chose this school over another school (e.g. academic & sporting reputation) - how you believe going...

2007 HSC Rankings - EVERY SCHOOL LISTED.

99.3 for most schools would be pretty decent.. however 99.3 for a selective school is kinda low - not that 99.3 is a bad score or anything. My school's dux last year got 99.85 and I think we got three people over 99 (99.85, 99.55 and 99.3) or something like that.

    Schools In The Bankstown Area

I agree with aMUSEd1977. I believe if you go to a comprehensive public school, it pretty much won't make a difference. You'll still get the teachers from the same list, and almost every public school will have disruptive teachers... but in saying that it's your choice. If you think it will...

Selective School entry into Year 12?

Well your school probably offered maybe 10 subjects last year... so you still came first in a large majority of them seeing as the other guy came first in all the other ones. Anyway back on topic, anyone else here thinking of applying or has applied for a selective school in Year 11 for year...

Selective School entry into Year 12?

I'm going to try and make my answers detailed like your answers are =] I'm basing this answer on my assumption on your profile that SPX is St. Pius X College, Chatswood. Your school is not systemic, it is independent (I checked on the website). This means that your school is owned and operated...

Selective School entry into Year 12?

Yeah, as I've said a few times, it's not that I'm not happy with my school, it's just I've been hearing what selective schools might be able to offer. However by saying that, I am still very happy with my school, we're ranked 126, and Top 3 systematic catholic schools (meaning we don't pay...

Selective School entry into Year 12?

Yep, I'm aware not many selective schools accept entries in Year 12, thats why I'm not really expecting to get in (if I try out). That's a really good point. It's not that I'm not happy with my school (because honestly I am really happy with my school and I am proud to be a student at my...

Selective School entry into Year 12?

True =] I reckon you made the right decision, because you seem really smart and i think you'll probably do really well (but by saying that, I'm pretty sure if you went to a selective school you would still do really well). Thanks again, your signature is right, you are really helpful and I...
