Ok, that makes sense. Would it be possible for that student to only count their 2u from 2008 and 3u mark if they did poorly in 4u in 2009? Of course then they would only have 3 units of mathematics then but you understand the point I'm trying to make I hope haha.

Wouldn't that lead to a complete overhaul of the NSW syllabus, it sounds rather pointless to me. On top of that we already do have a series of assessments rather than exams to assess the capabilities of students, that way students who are better at assignments/ research tasks/ prepared speeches...

On a similar note with accelerated students: I was wondering if someone is accelerated in Maths 2u and get a great mark (like Namu) but they do 4u in 2009 does that mean they can not count their 2u mark from the year before in their HSC or UAI for that matter because they did 4u in 2009?

Well you do, you still receive your exam mark however your assessment mark is the one that changes according to if you have an on or off day. Say I ranked internally 1st but did poorly in the HSC exam I would still receive my poor exam mark which corresponds to 50% of my overall HSC mark...

Yes I agree, I don't understand why people don't put in the hard yards in Year 12 and then have a straight passage into their course at university rather than having to go around the long way with transfers and such.

Personally using loose leaflet pages are good for most of your subjects, except maths get an exercise book for that.

There is no way you will be able to ride on your HSC results. Similarly to -may-cat- my maths tutor told me they covered Extension 1 maths in the first 4ish weeks when she started her course and she is doing the same course as you at the same uni.
