    Why do people cheat?

People cheat for a lot of reasons including, but not limited to: they can they want to they want/need something new they're attracted to someone else but too chickenshit to break up with their current partner they're looking for sex/intimacy/affection (whatever is lacking in their current...

    Is SEX overrated?

Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Still though, the actual experience of having sex is so removed from any other everyday experience that I find it to be one of those things that is so unique that you can't "overrate" it.

    Is SEX overrated?

Uh. You have had an orgasm right?

    Is SEX overrated?

Hey, put your hand up if you've found an experience that betters an orgasm? Also, if you have, let me know ASAP. Seriously, sex is not only fun but the end product is the most amazing feeling in the world. It's not overrated because you can't overrate a good screaming orgasm :uhhuh:

    The Lovely Bones?

Haha are you kidding me? The editors I work with are the most ruthless people around. I've never encountered one that tells the author what they want to hear. Either way, do you have any links anything regarding these books? I'd be interested to see how you are promoting them and the types of...

    Subway. For sure.

    The Lovely Bones?

So why didn't you just self-publish? Most publishers, especially larger firms like Puffin, won't let you use them as a glorified printer. Also, why are you looking for someone to critique your new manuscript? Wouldn't you be using their inhouse editors or a freelancer?

    The Lovely Bones?

Look, I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense at all. Publishers won't take on books that they can't advertise/promote themselves because they need to make a return from it too. I've never heard of a case like this before where from the outset the author is in charge of sales & marketing...

    The Lovely Bones?

Uh. I'm not really sure what you're on about. If you are published by Puffin, then they should be promoting your book on their site. It should be part of the marketing section of your contract. If it's not then that's a pretty bizarre relationship you have with them.

    The Lovely Bones?

Ah cool. I work with some people who used to be at Penguin. Sorry to take the thread offtopic :) What in particular did you find so striking about The Lovely Bones? I know a lot of people like it but apart from having a confronting storyline and exploring the concept of heaven in a fairly...

    The Lovely Bones?

Who's your publisher? I'm just curious because it's incredibly difficult to crack the Australian publishing scene. And you're right, there are a handful of young writers who are successful and published but I'm going to stress the handful there.

    The Lovely Bones?

May I ask how if you're still in year eleven? Still, it wasn't a bad novel but I wouldn't call it an epic by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn't trash but I wouldn't call it quality literary fiction.

    The Lovely Bones?

Yes and dying in a graphic, brutal way - Sebold really spelled it out for her readers. I wasn't sure how necessary that was to not only the narrative but the underlying message of the novel.

    The Lovely Bones?

I didn't love it per se. It was a confronting book and definitely thought-provoking but some of it felt like she put it in for pure shock value. I know my mom couldn't actually read past the initial few chapters and apparently there were a lot of mothers who felt the same way which I thought...

ankle comforters?dont know what these are called but i think they exist

You're thinking of heel grips. If your shoes are a little too big, try those. You can get fabric ones or gel ones. I'd recommend the gel ones if it's not so much too big but more too uncomfortable.

    smoking on campus?

And you claim I'm not with no proof either way. *shrugs* It's my decision to smoke, all consequences should be my own, not someone else's. So in that vein, I'm going to try and minimise all outward effects of my decision.

    smoking on campus?

Probably not when I'm drunk but there are a lot of places to butt out and if you're just going to sit and have a quick smoke, it's not hard to do it near a bin. There are a lot of selfish, lazy smokers but we aren't all like that.

    smoking on campus?

:( I'm a considerate smoker. If I smoke while walking, I always do it to the side and as far away from people as possible (i.e. my walk to work and thus first cig of the day is designed so I run into no more than two people). If I'm smoking with a group of friends/people, I always make sure...

    Smoking a turn off?

Hahahahaha brilliant. It's not for me because I am a smoker and come to think of it... most of the people I've been with have either been smokers or enjoyed the taste.
