    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon Yep, entirely. The only remotely challenging part is knowing to apply the triangle inequality and it's extension 2 maths, so everyone should be able to make basic logical connections like that.

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon Shit. That's wrong, nightweaver's right. (forgot to finish off one of the inequalities lol)

    Best way to study math?

Also, if there's not enough questions you can do in the past papers you can always just do questions from the textbook. If you've finished all the questions in your textbook try and find another textbook (most school libraries have copies of at least one maths textbook, or even excel/success one...

Hey guys, I need help with graphing acceleration to time for a bouncing ball

The moment the ball hits the ground there's an acceleration in the upward direction, larger than the acceleration due to gravity. Apart from that it's constant. EDIT: Just to clarify, that upward acceleration is instantaneous.

    Assessment Task

I've got an assessment task some time during next week. We've been given a topic/area to research and then we have to do a presentation in class. The presentation involves the teachers appearing as clients seeking legal advice from us. We get given a specific scenario 5 minutes before we present...

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon That's exactly what I was struggling with (why m<0), I got the rest of it, I just assumed I was missing something since Spiral's almost always correct and nobody else had mentioned anything.

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon I enjoyed the question too - I did the rest of it last night after skipping the first part (which I still can't get :()

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon For part alpha I can't work out why m<0. I can see it must be the case for the rest of the question because of the domain.

[Please HELP!] Anyone has answers on Arnold Cambridge 4U?

If you look at the stickied thread, there's a comparison of the textbooks which lists the pro's and cons of each. Personally, I'd use all the textbooks I've got access to (although you wouldn't want to do EVERY question in each textbook, they all have fairly similar questions.)...

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon I occasionally do this just for fun, but obviously it's impossible cover everything that might come up. Is there anything specific you'd recommend having a look at?

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon for ii) I used the fact that it's a rhombus and that the sides of a rhombus are equal Also, for iv) I used algebraic manipulation (which you've done in ii)) Obviously your way works for both, but personally I think my way would be faster.

    Questions involving LHS=RHS

Yeah, I pulled out the textbook and was showing him that explicitly showed my method in it, it was pretty ridiculous. Of course, if it happens now I'll fight harder but at the time it didn't seem like such a big deal, especially considering nobody else had actually complained to teachers.

    Questions involving LHS=RHS

3rd or 4th prelim test, so it didn't count towards the HSC. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one that lost marks for it, I heard of other people complaining about harsh marking so I assume that's what they complaining about. Things got pretty heated when I complained, but I ended up just...

For all the kids sitting the HSC in 2012 ..... What do you want to do next year?

see sig. Science (in particular, physics) has always been a passion, although I went through a stage where I wanted be a lawyer just to get filthy rich. For me, physics is about explaining everything at the most basic level possible and everything about that interests me. I've only recently...

    Questions involving LHS=RHS

This. I lost a mark for using parametric differentiation in a test last year, rather than converting the parametric equation to cartesian and differentiating. Teacher even said it was correct but refused to give me the mark because it wasn't "as correct". More importantly, I don't see why you'd...
