This is a good thing. If welfare was easy everyone would be on it and the country would be broke.

    Who else can't find work?

If you're over 18 you need to stop applying for the maccas/subway type jobs where they almost exclusively hire 15 year olds to keep costs down. Get your RSA (responsible service of alcohol) and RSG (gambling) and apply for bartending, bottleshops, pokies venues etc. Jobs that are for adults.

I had my first (and hopefully last) duty manager shift on Saturday night. Urggh I don't know how people can do that job full time..

Wow. At my store pretty much everyone leaves thru Liquor (which pissed me off), as it seems to be the natural exit when walking from the staff room/finger scanner. Most staff member bags don't get checked, half the time I'm down the back or in the coolroom or something and when I hear the...

That's funny i've been using my card that way in mom'n'pop liquor stores and drive thru's for the best part of a year now, just the liquor store i actually work in at woolies that suddenly changed yesterday, so I wouldn't say the first more like one of the last :P Not like it even matters, all...

+1 "I get it all back on tax", I can't understand why so many people actually believe this when it comes to tax deductions. If you're a low income earner you'll be getting 15% back on your union fees or even zero.

Try and get into the liquor department. You actually get to do stuff as well as scan shit (face the shelves, fill the fridges, lift slabs, drag pallets of beer around etc), the customer is not always right, you get to argue and tell em to push off etc. Don't get me wrong it's still a prick...

As said earlier make sure you're applying for specific positions at specific stores and not just putting up profiles. I doubt you're too old, I didn't work at Woolies until I turned 30.

Are you guys sure it was a pay rise? Everyone's pay will have gone up a little from the tax cuts that just took effect.

When I was at BWS my manager used to email the roster to everyone. Wouldn't be difficult for a woolies manager to email rosters to everyone in the department and wouldn't cost anything AFAIK.

Once they start abusing you it's game over, they won't get served by me no matter how many forms of ID they have :haha: I work in liquor where this kind of thing is 1000 times worse. We've had some ripper screaming matches in there. Customers threatening to kill staff and screaming like...
