Actually, the 3rd year first semester seng subject (SENG3010) has a very high fail rate. Of 12 teams last year, only 7 passed the subject. However, any teams that pass that will usually end up passing seng3020 as long as they put the same amount of work in

Some schools will only count the first mark you get for a subject toward your WAM, and not any subsequent marks if you fail it the first time (though this may be limited to some engineering schools, I'm not sure.)

That is such complete and utter bull... obviously its not an issue to those of us already at uni (as it only applies to those starting from next year onwards), but since when did they decide commerce should be more expensive than engineering?

Not unless places open up in it i.e. people drop out. This year someone dropped out so they had mid year applications for people in first year. And yes, you would be expected to have at least a D average. It is obviously a much better idea to apply for co-op before you begin your degree

Supposedly Saw 4 will focus at least some of the story on Rigg (The black detective dude from 2 and 3.) I agree that the original is still the best, and I doubt this one will be able to top it. Its also the first to not be written by the original creators of the Saw movies.

As far as I know theyre not very strict unless you get a low mark ie they may fail you if you dont turn up to half your tutes and get a final mark of 50. However if you only miss a few and get a decent mark theres no problem.

Yeah Samuel is my tutor, and my mark was scaled up (according to vista) so they are taking into account differences between tutors.

Re: Easter show I'm 20 and got around 19 or 20 an hour... the conditions werent that bad, but some people couldnt really handle the long shifts (often 12+ hours) where you have to be standing the whole time except in the two half hour breaks. I think it was a great way to earn some quick money...

That sucks... my tutor (cant remember his name) said that his classes had an average of about 8/15, surely they cant be allowed to mark the tests that differently

Well you heard wrong. If you want distinctions in first year commerce at unsw, you will have to work for it. I remember my microeconomics lecturer telling us that one third of the class in session 2 had failed it the previous session, and if it was easy to get D's there wouldnt be that many...

Yeah you definately dont need to have done any programming in the past for comp1911 - i want straight into a computing degree having never done computing in high school and knowing next to nothing about c, java, etc and did fine first semester.
