If you're not, there are alternative ways of getting Longhorn, before if not during the time official testers receive their copies via mail-outs or online downloads (given your uncapped status with Telstra, you'll easily hit 0.5MB/s via Microsoft's Connexion/distro servers) ;)

Of course, I know of alternative paths, but i hate downloading rars, i'd like a nice 500 kb constant speed iso from betaplace :p...

if not then i'll get it off my MS, WinBETA, mIRC resources :).. i'm connected totally in the BETA scene, not in the wuarze scene anymore, but soon i'll be back into that again with these new delicious plans from telstra :D

ahem excuse me? Downloading 90 GB in a month doesn't fit me under being a "fucking geek", it just means i know what i need to get, and I CAN get what i want to get, unlike some people who actually have to result into child pornography, not directing this at anyone at all, oh no... :rolleyes: :p...

Rars are the way of the future :p
Yes, I am the complete opposite, connected in other avenues rather than Betas (I mean, if it's not final, why bother - Sorry Winston :p).

All things considered? No.
Imperically? No.

You should really be hitting 55K Newbie, on 512/128.

You want 500KB/s so you can eat up your quota (which is supposed to be used in a month) in about five and a half hours? :rolleyes:

10GB = 10,000MB
500KB/s = 0.5MB/s
10,000MB / 0.5MB/s
= 20,000 seconds

20,000 / 60 / 60
= 5.5 hours.

Good luck with the other 29 days of the month. ;)

I recommend that you read the advantages to ADSL in my post(s), included in the following thread:
adsl plan..
http://www.boredofstudies.org/community/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19711

Telstra's new plan has advantages, which I have listed in the first page of this thread.

Well out of pure honesty i haven't used ADSL before so yeah i can't give any feedback, so Newbie, trust Huy's suggestion because he has use both :D... but honestly it depends how you uses it, i mean Huy and I, well Huy's more of legit person ;) so he downloads quite a bit of trialware every month :p :p :p lol!, but i assume Newbie you're in it for games more i suppose and that occasional mp3 download, if so then Cable will be good for you but if you're a bit of both and a average gamer, then go straight away for ADSL

That, I do ;)

Very true.

Cable

* Uncapped
* 10GB per month
* Uploads included in your quota
* Reasonable quota
* Shaped to 64kbps
* Very low pings

ADSL
* Capped to whatever plan you're on, 256/64, 512/128 or 1500/512
* 20GB per month, or unlimited with other ADSL providers
* Uploads are not included in your quota
* Quota is more than generous, considering most are unlimited (via Telstra or Comindico) or offering on average 500MB to 1GB per day, if not more depending on your habits.
* Shaped to 72kbps after you reach your quota, with iiNet. Other ISPs have other shaping/priority schemes such as Internode (talk to Ragerunner for this one :)).
* I'm not a gamer, but I would imagine the pings would be the same.

If you're happy with where you are, stay. :)
The only benefits to Telstra right now are the above, the cost is virtually the same, although Telstra is a little bit more cheaper now (if the prices are true).
