1984 prescribed but we have free reign over our related so I'm still deciding TT I'll have to make a choice soon, though
im doing the same, I literally cannot find a related text that someone hasn't done in past years at my school (therefore 'no originality' in my teachers words) 😭

Firstly, it depends on the weight of the assessment task. If it says 20% on the assessment sheet for example, then it will be worth 10% of your HSC mark (HSC Weight = Internal Weight/2). As for if you should drop Ext 1, it really depends on if you think you like the content and will endeavour to achieve better study habits for the subject, because ultimately, if you keep a subject for 1 extra unit that won't count to your ATAR because you do bad, then there is no point in doing the subject in the first place.

I hope this cleared some confusion in deciding whether to drop Ext 1.

P.S. Never make the mistake of dropping a subject because of an assessment task.
