if I remember correctly we had y=x^2 and y=ln(x)+k. I just differentiated both functions and made them equal to one another and solved for x. Because the tangent at A is the same gradient for both curves. With the x co-ord you can sub back into x^2 and you have the (x,y) of point A and it all flows from there. can find k as such. the 2nd part with the integral was simple once you had k.
differentiation makes sense, I unfortunately didn't think of that. Thank you!

i did that but i kept getting 0.47... instead of 0.04... ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ i spent like 30mins staring at my page trying to figure out where i went wrong and i never found out why
oh well at least i got 2 or 3 marks for it

Our school gave replacement questions for stuff we hadnโ€™t done and I found those harder than a lot of questions on the actual paper bruh

I didnโ€™t think of solving with the derivatives ๐Ÿ˜” i still wrote the intergrals, but couldnt complete solving them ofc bc i didnโ€™t have A or k. Hopefully iโ€™ll still get a mark or two still tho

You guys reckon I could still pull off a raw score of 70 in math standard assuming I averaged 50 in internals and got an 80 in the HSC?
depends on ur rank, could either get u a 60 internal or 85 internal, all depending on how ur cohort performs

Well as of now I'm sitting at 49/75, I'm assuming it wouldn't change or potentially get worse after trials.

i honestly think u could score at least 75+ on ur trials. whatโ€™s ur weakness in math?

Pretty much everything lol. I've got in 2 days anyways so at this point I'm just hoping for a pass.
at this point just do practice questions in things ur most confident at in order to secure marks. know ur formulas atleast theyโ€™ll get u somewhere. and after ur trials, try to to atleast 3-4 papers a week (trust me itโ€™s actually not that hard itโ€™s take abt 1.5hours for me to do) and youโ€™ll learn the content like that especially if u look back at ur textbook for questions u dont get. thatโ€™s how i learned my content. i didnt look back at my textbook upon studying for trials a few days ago bc ive already been doing past papers with the help of text book formulas/examples to help me get the question. ive seen some ppl attempting textbook questions the day before their trial exam and i dont think thats the right way to go abt it (unless ofc u dont get a concept at all, then go thru it)

but honestly ur on ur way to score a band 5 and higher in math if u stay consistent and try many past papers, and make sure to review ur mistakes!!
