i don't care if you're phoning about charity or trying to sell me something. It's my house and i don't have to justify not wanting to donate my money to any charity. For all you know i might have donated 100$ just yesterday. It's your job to phone and ask for money not to judge people on whether or not they can afford it based on where they live.
Stop been so outraged and do your job.

do employees get annoyed when customers keep changing their method of payment (ie. cash or card)?

lol... because today i tried to pay with my card and it got declined... so i did a part payment of $20 cash and the rest on the card... got declined again... so i ended up having to do $25 in cash and the rest on the card... i felt heaps bad haha

I personally don't care unless its the end of my shift. The customers behind you might think differently though. What I do get annoyed at though is those that insist its not their card and also those that just take out their mobile to call their bank to check if there is money in the account. They don't like ask if they can suspend the sale or anything, just straight away call and hold everyone up.

Nah it doesn't bug me, but it does take up a considerable amount of time canceling the processing of the current payment and choosing a new one (my POS is very slow too).

3. I'm unemployed/a pensioner/a single mum/any 'cant afford it' excuse does not work when i know im calling cremorne or richmond, well above middle class suburbs.
If you mean Richmond in NSW, it's not as well off out there as other areas of Sydney, it's very middle class like the others said (hahaha, bogan paradise is so true). Definitely a lot less money there than Cremorne.

Had an idiot come in today wanting to exchange an item from last summer's sale, from January of this year. We only do exchanges for two weeks, no exchanges or refunds on sale items (which this was) and I highly doubt the style she wanted from two seasons ago would still be on the racks 9 months later. Why can't idiots read their receipts and stop wasting my time :S.

Heres two which annoy me heaps.

1) Do not wave or stick money in my face when you can CLEARLY see that I am busy moving your bags to the bagging area.

2) PUT A SEPERATOR between your shopping and the next persons for GOD SAKE!

please do not re pack the bag of groceries when i pack it neatly and as much as i can

please do not ask for another plastic bag for one food item such as the 2L milk oe the 2L coke , ill double the bag for you to make you satisfied

please do not tell me how to pack the bags

please do not ask me the time i finish, you dont need to know

please do not ask me if we sell smokes at our registers when clearly there is a sign that outlines that smokes can be purchased from our smokeshop because of age restriction laws on under 18's working on regisgters

please dont put the 30 cans of coke or the water or cat litter on the conveyot belt, we have it on our touch screen system, to make life easier for you to not lift heavy products on the conveyor belt

please dont get pissed when im working in smokeshop and i ask for your id if i can tell you look younger than 18, i have to do this for store policy and age restrictions

please do not make your child cry at the registers. if they want something no matter what price if its chocolate or a lollipop or some small toy or magazine let them have it so they can be happy and not cause you stress while your at the checkouts

please do not come to me when im on my break to ask me where are the 10kg potatoes. I dont woork in the produce department. I dont know what you mean cos i dont know where all the produce items are located

please do come to my register when i come back from my break or service 3 when your just standing there leaning on your trolley, day dreaming when i can serve you alot quicker and you can leave our store much happier

please do not whinge about how much i pack groceries in your plastic bags, our store policy is to pack the bags properly and pack as much as we can. if you tell me to put something in another bag because you think its too heavy ill do it but in anger and frustration or in a calm manner to make you happy and come back to our store

.....to be continued :)

So how common is it to be hit on? Being a male, I don't get hit on and the only occasion I did get hit on was by a super flamboyant middle aged gay person looked more woman than man (Or was it more man than woman. I couldn't tell) but in customer vent topics, this comes up. Is it fair to say that girls get hit on by men old enough to be their father?

Or grandfather.
Seriously though, we have a guy who comes in about 3-4 times a day and will only be served by particular operators - as in, he lines up at express, if someone else calls him he lets the next person go in front.
Thankfully I am not one of those operators :D

I get old guys hitting on me and few girls have "regulars" come in and always call us sweetcheeks and sugarlips, it is really uncomfortable, especially when you have your back turned, cos you feel like there checking you out -_- . We usually tell call our supervisor to our register if we see one of them line up behind our register and she will get them to another register or self-serve

Likewise due to maleness, although this one middle-aged, not so flamboyant gay was totally chatting me up on Saturday, I caught him glancing at my crotch, and then he came in on Sunday and looked at me expectantly but due to our "next-please" express i didn't serve him. Being gay myself it's not such an issue, but he is like 30-something.

I just wish the guys that I want to chat me up would.

E.g. the hot looking European with the fast car.

Nah, I have a lot of mates who live in the area though so I'm usually up there. I work in Seven Hills, another bogan paradise :p.

On the topic of flirty customers, I've been asked for my number a couple of times in both of my jobs. Telling them that I have a boyfriend doesn't really deter them either. Oh well, they've all been nice to me so have no issues with it. I did have a bit of an issue with a middle aged woman touching my bottom a couple of times, lol.

I actually think it's very sweet when I get called "sweety" "darling" "gem" etc by elderly people (some people don't like it though?). When dad types and younger people try and do the same thing it's so damn creepy.

When people come through the reg, don't say hello or anything and just stare at you waiting to serve them..It's so SO uncomfy :/

I've had three people come up to me asking whether I pick up a lot of girls at work. :mad1:

They've all been male as well. The next one I promise to start flirting with.

@ Internet Cafe.

There are rules for a reason, we know your favourite PC, and we know you book it every Saturday night, so dont be a cunt and leave rubbish on the desk, chocolate smears on the keyboard/mouse and on the computer monitor, and say you never knew the rules. Its a two story building and the people who work here will gladly throw you out the window.

Also if you think you are going to be sick, go to the other internet cafe.

Yes, this one. I hate it when people say 'oh no that's not mine' and act as if I'm supposed to see the magic invisible line between their and other person's items. we can't always keep track, so put a bloody separator idiots

when i ask you for help don't say no and then go and ask the person at the counter for help. if you go and ask at the counter i get in shit because it looks like i'm not doing my job, which is to ask everyone if they need help.

i am proficient in the search funtion and check every possible database. if i'm not finding a listing it's because you're not giving me the right title/author or you've given me the incorrect spelling.

don't tell me the publisher as if this should help me find the book you're after. the larger publishers have thousands of books, trust me, it is not helpful.

i had some guy ask about five different questions on where to find things, then came back and asked me if i would like to go on a 'dinner date'. i was shocked because i'd never been hit on at work before :jaw: and he was probably about twice my age, mid-late thirties ewww
