The Orthodox Church was founded as the original church, and the Catholic Church is the split by the Archbishop of Rome from the authority of the Archbishop of Constantinople. You should be well aware that Constantine established Constantinople and it was Constantinople which became regarded as the primary See.

Thus we have the Greek Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church, and then the later Roman Catholic split. Don't embarrass yourself by arguing otherwise.
I am not going to bother arguing when you clearly think you are right.

I'm certain that you are a nice person, but please don't ever insult the intellect of a scholar of Early Christianity when you have neither the linguistic nor scholastic skills to participate in this debate. I feel sorry for you if you believe that you have a proper understanding of Christianity. Good day.

I have an understanding of christianity, I believe the bible is true. You know christians consider it the Word Of God. I believe that Jesus came to earth, he is the Son of God and died on the cross for our sins, it is by grace we are saved when we have a relationship with him.

What understanding do i lack?

Wiki is pretty brilliant Em.
I think he means he has studied Christianity as a religion.
Being a Christian and having studied the religion in depth are two different things....some would say they rarely go together :) :) :)

I'm no bible scholar - but I don't think it is as cut and dried as that.
Provide the verse , context of the verse and the 'historical context' (uh oh) and then interpret it's meaning.

how can we explain what we believe about those passages that you are talking about if you give us no references?

Are you that determined to find flaws in christianity that you cannot even provide passages so that we can explain our views on them?

you are the one that i pity.

Dude. Death and destruction came from God. He punished His people by allowing THEM to be enslaved by heathen countries.
I dont think anyone denies it was in the Bible. Whether God thought it was a 'good thing' , is another matter.

Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and
trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ....
---EPHESIANS 6:5
Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of
all honor,
so that the name of God and the teaching may not be defamed. Those who
have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they
are brethren; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by
their service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these duties. If any
one teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord
Jesus Christ and the teaching which accords with godliness, he is puffed up
with conceit, he knows nothing; he has a morbid craving for controversy
and for disputes about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander,
base suspicions...

Yes :)
That was what I was thinking of too.
I read this as , show honour and obedience to the authorities over you.
It does not mean that slavery was what God wanted , or that slaves were regarded as inferior by God.
Doesn't God also say that in Him there is neither slave nor free man?

be obedient i think that is fair, I think that it is assumed that it is unless it is sinful.

It is saying be obedient to bring glory to God.
