the england squad looks a tad bare at the moment.
james is an accident waiting to happen, kirkland is never really fit and robinson is a bit of a chumper.

Up-front owne and heskey would do alright but if they were to get injured then can vassel and rooney perform at international level?

left and centre defence looks solid, but i worry about the right side.

Midfield is where they are really strong so the dilemma would be who to leave out and whether to play joe cole as the specialist left sided player or move one of gerrard or lampard there? or even give dyer a go there if theyre that desperate.

mexes is an awesome player, best CD on the market atm ...
umm..

he had a reasonably crap season and wasn't selected for France.. i would say the best defender on the market would be Samuel followed by Zebina then probably the Bonera/Ferrari duo... Mexs development has been stunted somewhat..

did you guys see the england squad, they only picked 4 strikers and only two of them are decent (owen, rooney). along with them are heskey and vassell. i reckon they needed atleast 1 more, preferebly smith as he adds a little bit of agression and pace.

eriksoon said 2players for each position
so 2strikers = 4 players selected

its a good decision..cept heskey being there not smith/defoe

Remember last season (02-03) when the Midfield of Newcastle got them very far in the Premier League and ECL, well England can do the same. :p

Bartez does it again! Hmm, hope the French defenders are all in form. :p

ugh.. australia 1-0 down at half time, disgusting error from schwarzer. Meanwhile they've had something like 2 chances themselves, I'm outta here. Meanwhile Real Madrid signed Samuel *gasp*.. Madrid signing a defender, never thought I'd live to see the day

i dont expect Australia to beat Turkiye

For Samuel, he has one hell of a task. He will be virtually on his own in defence and their is no real midfield cover for him (with Makelele now at Chelsea)

but, at least they are making a sensible signing, for once..

A pathetic coach (Farina, if anyone was wondering), an inconsistent ref, and no sense of urgency cost us the game... That and the fact that the front two for Turkey must be married when you consider their interplay and all. At least we were able to see one team play to the best of their ability, even though they left the pitch without even bothering to thank their supporters (who were in the majority, too).

I hope that we see Chipperfield playing as he should one day, but with the current system that seems unlikely.

There is always Melbourne.

i hear that xabi alonso might be on his way there too. now that would be an awesome signing. the guy is all class.

about the aus turkey game. the result was predictable knowing aus and our soccer disappointments, just a shame we didnt see umit davala or nihat come down either :(
