Hey guys. I have a one-on-one interview tomorrow for a deli assistants' job tomorrow? Thought all the interviews were group ones :S

She called me literally 2 minutes after I'd filled out the application form. Wow.

Last sunday was hilarious...the stupid duty manager we had on thought she could chuck something into the cash office without unsetting the alarm. How wrong was she lol, and the funny thing was she couldn't turn the alarm off! She tried her combination heaps of times but it still wouldn't turn off, and one of the cashiers tried putting her code in as well and it didn't turn off. Seconds later she gets a call from the Alarm monitoring company "Are you guys okay?!"

But in the end it was because someone had opened one of the alarmed fire exits, and it took her about 5 minutes to work that out lol.

For Victoria, are we payed overtime and penalty rates (time and a half/double time, and what not) and stuff?
(Mind the silly question, mainly asking @ the overtime part)

Thanks

Dont you mean without setting? lol
no, I meant unsetting/disarming the alarm. I don't know how she thought she could chuck something in there because the alarm has to be disarmed from outside the cash office, and if it isn't as soon as the door opens it goes off.

Lol

Our safe has been fitted with an Automatic Timelock...so does that mean it can only open at certain times? There's a huge sign on the entry door saying

"OUR SAFE IS FITTED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TIME LOCK AND CAN NOT BE OPENED UNDER THREAT"

Lol i love Central Monitoring!

They can only ever speak to the duty manager. Once they rang up and I put them on hold and called the duty manager but he was busy chatting to someone who works with us who was doing their shopping, so they hung up after a while. Then they rang back again and it took him another good five minutes to get to the phone and then they were like "so your hold-up alarm has gone off, are you OK there?".

Like the armed robbers couldn't have robbed every till and shot every employee in that time.

Although the cops did turn up. You're not allowed to cancel them.

lol! ^^

When I was open in the office one of the operators pressed the portable hold up alarm...which has been done before and I hate dealing with the security people! So I made her stand out side to wait for the police hahaha! =D

No police when I did it. :S Maybe we aren't important.

A couple of weeks ago I had unloaded all the security items from the safe, and put them on top of the other safe like normal ready for the supervisor to pick up. She comes in, chucks it all in the trolley, even made a comment about the alarms. Anyway CMS rings about a minutes later saying the alarm is being tripped. I said the 2IC was careless, put them on hold, 2IC said she was useless, no police.

Well at least your duty manager is actually keyed into the alarm panel... lol, our relief GM wasn't so when alarms were going off she couldn't do anything.

Also, I'm thinking this project phoenix thing isn't very helpful when
a) you have 1 (or more) sickies that can't be replaced
b) you are understaffed as it is
c) you get smashed 30 mins before close

so, glad I won't be in tomorrow morning to see my CSM's reaction to the f/end looking like WW2.

i'd say that almost certainly is the Second Safe, for armaguard, there's no way the main safe would be time-delayed because you need to be able to access it all the time.

but the small, armaguard safe does hold more money, for e.g. in our store, at the end of week, main safe will have $15,000, 2-key safe will have about ~50-60K

I've always wondered what was in that other little safe. When I was getting trained in there I asked what it was and my trainer said 'Thats for you to find out later'....oh yeah like I'm gonna try and steal from it! Pretty sure only Armorgaurd can open it anyway...stupid bitch.

It's odd...In Induction we are told we are never to talk about or tell customers that there is a safe in the store, when hello...there's a big m'fing sign on the door advertising it to the world lol

It would be fairly obvious that a store that handles tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars every day would have some kind of safe to store excess cash.

I WILL LOOK NORMAL AT WORK INSTEAD OF HAVING HUGELY BAGGY CLOTHES OMG. Lol.
Highlight of my week :p

Depends what alarm it is.

CMS Should only ring for fire exit / security room / cash office and fridge alarms
they wont ring for the the nominated staff fire exit/entrance door or for holdup alarms as they are silent
police will only come for holdup alarms (located at service desk/cash office and portable if your store has one)

on the topic of shirts...i asked one of our cash office girls about ordering new ones for summer.
she told me to hold off for a month or so because she heard we'd be getting newer ones with stripes/different material.
does anyone know about these 'new shirts'?
thanks
