OH&S regulations? Cool, I'll use that. Yea, every checkout operator has back pain. It's impossible not to after standing in one position for so long!

Yea, all my supervisors have been telling me that tomorrow is the busiest day of the entire year, worse than Xmas eve. Looking forward to horror stories tomorrow. I initially was meant to work only 3.5hours 9.30am-1pm but my sup called me up a couple days ago and told me, "Your shift has been changed (Note: Did not say "can you work this so so time?") to 8.30am-3.30pm." Holy moley. I'm gonna be dead beat tomorrow I reckon. We had a hoard rush in on Xmas eve last year and I was surprised so I think tomorrow'll be BAAAADDD! Good luck everyone!

PS: How does someone drink 9 3L bottles of milk anyway?!

Man last night I was so angry I was considering reporting my bakery to the NZ Food Safety Authority.

I bought a 6pk of Bread Rolls for dinner, as soon as I opened them the only thing I could smell was the fucking spice from Hot Cross Buns, and not only that but every roll had a couple of sultanas in! Eating them, I couldn't tell if I was eating a roll or a hot cross bun because that is all I could taste.

I'm not surprised though because the Food Safety in our bakery doesn't fucking exist. Watch out Mr. Charge Baker, you are going to get an earful from me this morning.

And I am still going home at 12 :)

In regards to bread, much of it is supplied by the supplier and is not something we can negotiate price with customers, it just gets claimed...
All our Coles bread is baked in store. I'm not talking about the branded bread, just the bread the bakers make during the day and the other stuff like donuts, hot cross buns, bread rolls, cookies etc. Surely they could mark that down?

Oh well better leave so I can get there by 7.30. If I am home by 10pm I will call that a success. The joys of being a salary bitch.

So good to be back at work!! I started at 5am and only just got on my lunch break! Went to the service desk to look at the grids and OMG there is seriously like 6 pages hahaha. Kind of glad i'm in the office, had every register open at freaking 8am.

Some idiot supervisor decided that they didnt want to do any spot checks last night so the CSM asked me to do a "snap-a-thon" with him. I had to count every second register while he did the others (this was at 6.30am) So hard..I had to turn my whole body to look at the screen hahaha!

Have fun everyone =D

Don't see what everyone was moaning and complaining about at work. It was just the same as any Thursday. Just one extra 1/2 pallet of stock, a few more customers here and there. Easy :)

Whereas Xmas eve, 4 extra pallets of FRESH stock, all hard stock came earlier in the week, and half an hour after the shop opened we had already done 1k in Produce.

UGH. Am not looking forward to my 5:15 - 10:15 pm shift tonight, we're going off a sales estimate of about $335,000!

I went in this morning to grab a couple of things and we had 4 mains open and 1 express and this was just 8 in the morning.

I will definitely be milking my break tonight!

greg foran dogged us.
Marty came instead. With our area manager, SSS, bakery specialist, deli specialist, meat specialist, area HR, compliance officer, food safety officer, idk who else even. Started at 5 and just leaving now... So much more work left :(

we made 500 x 8pk hot cross buns, 200 mocha, 150 chocolate chip, 130 fruitless, and 300 x 12pk.

I feel like I am dying haha.

When I left store was sitting at 160k... With 8 more hours of trade!
Bakery was already on 4.

SM gave me a huge easter egg (cadbury) with freddos. So nice of him :)

I was on the PA all day for every department. When I wasn't yelling I was responding to express alerts to the service area, and to deli.

At least you guys are finished, I don't start for another two hours. (Granted I'm only working 4-4.5 hours, depending on what time we finish)

And I have a massive headache too, of all the people I could have sat next to on the train, it had to be a lady who smelt like a myer entrance. :(

Is that all? Lol. Bet you run out of stock tonight! :)
Well I would have thought so too but the only major line we ran out of when I went back was Broccoli, and that's only because they cut back our order by 50%.

Everything else was still pretty full when I left at 8pm. Sitting on 6k whereas at the same time Xmas eve we were on 15k.

Pretty breezy day :)

was pretty shitty day.
Started at 5am; came in, setup chicken, only to realise that night staff didn't do their fucking job and pack away the load at night. (note; there were 3 closers & 1 11pm finisher... no excuse whatsoever that nothing was done).
But thing is, our chicken coolroom hasn't been rotated properly for the past few weeks so we hve like stock everywhere. So i spent about 30 minutes rearranging the chicken coolroom, and then another 40-50mins or so unpacking the load from meat department which was about 2 pallets. (seriously - if i could do that in ~40-50 mins. 2/3 of them could've done it in 20mins. ==)
anyway, finished all that around 6-30am. andthen did some of the ends and cleaning untill 10am, where seafood person had to leave for uni.

In which i filled in for seafood (our store manager is anal about seafood looking good).
it was busy >=/
Was pumping out tiger prawns, fresh & frozen while other fresh fillets had to be filled and customers had to be served. Was kinda running the department myself the whole day. Made 5k in seafood from open till when i left. May not sound like much to you guys, but to me, 5k by myself with a few other people helping serve some customers is a lot.

had my lunch break at 1pm (took 30mins) and then left at 4pm (rostered till 3). WOo

thank god today's over.

This. 5.15, CSM and 2IC had just gone home, all registers open, hammering out express alerts and BAM! Bank of Queensland goes down. We tried every avenue before manual EFT because as it turned out only the SSM and I had ever done one (i wasn't meant to be supervising at that point) and we had both forgotten. We unearthed the machine and the slips and I was on hold for the authorisation number for like 10 minutes, until someone just paid for the woman. The EFT lines all went down for a little bit but only a few banks made us do manual. Most just worked offline. Appaz you can do 100 EFT transactions off down lines?

We even beat Xmas eve, still pulling about 12k an hour between six and seven (massive for us). $121 000 planned and we were at $123 000 when I went home at 7 with still half the registers open. The SM when he left said "well done, the best front end team work i've ever seen", when he left we were all stood open-mouthed and were like "did he just congratulate us?"

Also, a customer overheard the night supervisor telling me "sometimes i do a massive shit in the toilets and blame it on [backdoor woman]" SO funny.

Aaah Easter Eve. I have fond memories of the leadup to Easter. I swear people are more pissed about the leadup to Easter than Christmas. Bakery staff told me how they hate Easter because they have a massive increase in work. Staff are more agitated (I remember doing a drop off and my store manager in the adjacent office bellowed "WHATS THIS SHIT?!" and called my supervisor up), customers are irate we can't stock more hot cross buns, despite being available since New Years Day (though I think they now appear on Boxing Day) and I went home in tears one evening because of a roster fuck up. I think it's because unlike Christmas, everyone is back at work from Tuesday (sometimes Monday).

...I really don't miss Easter either :)

People go nuts when stores are shut; you'd think everyone was stocking up their bunkers with the amount of crap they buy.

Ahh the joys of easter. Did 7.30am-9.30pm, was ridiculously busy all afternoon. I looked at the sales at midday and saw it was only $120k, thought we might saunter to $300k because it didn't seem that busy. From 1pm until I left the minimum sales/hr was $39k. We will probably finish high $400's. Although at least with 24 registers open queues were manageable.

Hahaha yeah its pretty crazy. I went back to my store to get some things at 9.30 (they closed at 10) and every register was still open with heaps of people going through..I was like yeahhhh good luck closing on time. Both the supervisors where just standing at the end of the aisles watching, pretty cruisy day actually =D

Hope I can say the same for saturday. Working 11-21 in the office.

So tired.

Good points: Hilariously over-rostered so I didn't have a register for 2.75 hours
Bad points: Volunterred to stay back to 11:15pm to face some of the store.
