unfortunately its a blessing in disguise for NBC, they have been suffering from low rating lately and they badly need shocking footage like this to lift up their rating.

"US campus killer's family laments carnage"

I was wondering when this would come out. Here, the gunman's family speaks out.

From that article:

"In a nation still healing from the September 11, 2001 attacks, Monday's killing spree at Virginia Tech have now been written into the annals of US history as the country's deadliest school shooting."

Wtf? Was the work experience kid in charge of writing this one?

You obviously didn't hear about that Ismail Ax fiasco...

Anyway, I agree with everything Stazi said.
interesting that you bring this up, more interesting how smh covered this aspect of the story. it seemed that once they recounted the historical and religious context of the significance of "Ismail" they, in the same paragraph, had something to the effect of "many wonder whether the shootings could be related to terrorism". i couldnt help but laughing.

oh yes...found it.
http://www.smh.com.au/news/web/ismail-ax-sparks-web-search-frenzy/2007/04/18/1176696880256.html?page=2

As for the term's meaning, one popular theory spreading across the web comes from a story in the Koran, the holy book of Islam, about Ibrahim and his son, Ismail. This theory picked up speed because many bloggers wondered if the actions at Virginia Tech could be related to terrorism.
this part was exceptionally funny....
Other theories speculate that Ismail Ax could be a reference to Cho's nickname on a video gaming site or that it is a misspelling of Turkish hip-hop artist Ismail YK.

Shocking new news! Video games pointed at as prime reason for massacre!

Mr. Gates, your company is potentially legally liable (for) the harm done at Virginia Tech. Your game, a killing simulator, according to the news that used to be in the Post, trained him to enjoy killing and how to kill.

That's right Socialists, the holocaust did actually happen!
I'm pretty sure only obscure socialists believe the holocuast didn't happen.

I'm also pretty sure there are plenty of people who would subsribe to your political outlook who are not very jew friendly.

Damn all those pro-Israel libertarians that hate Jews! :mad1:

So anyway, at this stage we can point the blame squarely at:
  • The Second Amendment
  • Too many guns
  • Not enough guns
  • Girls who wouldn't go out with him
  • Guns N' Roses
  • Jesus
  • NBC
  • Korean culture
  • Christian youth groups
  • English majors
  • eBay, and now,
  • Video games

I'm surprised they haven't found a way to work the Jews in there.

Mr. Gates, your company is potentially legally liable (for) the harm done at Virginia Tech. Your game, a killing simulator, according to the news that used to be in the Post, trained him to enjoy killing and how to kill.
how is counterstrike bill gates game? as far as i knew it was a mod that got bought out by valve /shrug. Its not really a "killing simulator" either, unless you consider a computer mouse to be in stunning likeness of a barrel and trigger. You press the R key to reload, what a stunningly accurate simulation! perhaps we should train our army with such software! not to mention the strategy such a game teaches you, throw a flashbang and charge in with an assult rifle [ oh wait, he had neither of these] and dont forget to chain the doors shut at the start of the round!
[hangon, does counterstrike even have the ability to lock doors, let alone chain them shut?]

Besides, everyone plays counterstrike. Out of the hundreds of millions [ yes, hundreds of millions... counterstrike really has that many players worldwide] of players, only one has snapped and killed 32 people. Maybe we should be blaming counterstrike for training terrorists in how to capture planes, afterall this accurate similation has a map where you capture a plane.

Personally i beleive the dude was naturally "gifted" with weapons. He had no formal training, owned weapons for a matter of weeks and was never signed in to a shooting range. Maybe the army should have signed him up earlier and trained him to be a commando or something. Not that its that hard to shoot people just standing there who arent even trying to defend themselves or run away, but his planning and execution[sorry, bad pun] were exemplary, you can tell he was intelligent. Pitty he was mentally distrubed[his parents should be arrest for the shit they obviously put him through] and so didnt end up putting that gift to good use. Well atleast now he has the dubious honour of being americas deadliest gunman.

Nah I think he comes across as a melodramatic idiot, personally. It's not hard to shoot a gun and hit a target, especially close ones. I'd never fired a gun before in my life, went to vegas and was able to hit close enough targets basically wherever i wanted to, from distances probably similar to those of the shootings in this massacre.

Planning and execution? He went around shooting people like crazy? tell me this is a troll.

maybe he just got lucky, but he checked on some of the classrooms beforehand, chained the place up, spent 2 hours before getting ready, making videos and shit. His movements around the building as far as the police could tell, werent random they were planned for maximum casualties. The way that he shot every victim 3 times[not a single missed shot, crazy huh?] and the only ones who survived were lucky enough to get 2 shots to the arm and one to the body. Ive never fired a pistol, i imagine it would be alot easier than the rifles and one shotgun i have fired though.

Just the way everything was set up, i could tell from when the story broke that it wasnt just some dude on a psychotic rampage. If he really was operating on rage he would have made more mistakes, and not been so deliberate in his actions. He wasnt shooting people like crazy, he was shooting people like he had a plan.

Um,

"Investigators also say Cho practiced shooting at a firing range in Roanoke, about 40 miles from the campus, in mid-March."

Agreed. The whole looking like some sort of tough-guy thing in the videos, whilst being a meek and isolated person in real life confirms this.

Eg, taking off his glasses in all the promo videos and photos.
