ur extracurriculars r better than mineHey guys, im currently trynna prepare for edutest year 9 entry this year and im kinda cooked cuz i dont really know what im doing. i have been doing like preparation like practice tests and stuff but im looking for guidance on like which study methods to use or like how to study for this exam. also does anyone know like what extracurriculars and side stuff i should be doing to help my chances. rn i do choir, swimming, bharatnatyam (which is like a indian classical dance), and im gonna join like 3 or 4 more random clubs. my grades are pretty good as im assuming ill get mostly a's cuz my exam scores were pretty good. SO PLEASE HELP CUZ SINCEI DONT HAVE GOOD EXTRA CURRICULARS I NEED TO GET LIKE REALLY GOOD IN EDUTEST CUZ WITHOUT THAT I MIGHT NOT STAND A CHANCE BTW HOW MANY GET IN USUALLY FOR YEAR 9 ENTRYY. also side note i might be doing hast for girra so if anyone has any tips/guidance/advice anything is appreciated!!!
i dont go to a good school but im applying for hastWhat school do you go to?
the stuff u say u currently do (choir, bharatanatyam, swimming) r already good enough to list as extracurriculars. i would go against stressing urself out by joining more clubs especially if its for the sole reason to look impressive for school applications, but up to youlmao i basically have none so I'm trying to join as many like clubs as I can![]()
i go to coding classes and i do a little bit of volunteering for a community near meOhh do you do any extra curriculars?
its that mindset that makes you not perform well in edutestI mean like I still have some extra curriculars but honestly Ik I'm not gonna perform EXCEPTIONAL in edutest so why not have some clubs to sorta fill in the gap yk?
Is there a reason why you want to transfer to baulko? I know a lot of people who did that transfer and regretted it because they didn't like the social life and school vibes there.im in year 7 and am looking to transfer to baulko from hornsby girls. i already purchased the 3 pack edutest practice tests and used two of my credits already. should I use my remaining credit on a yr 8 practice test because the yr 7 ones were easy but I made mistakes on questions I should've gotten right. sorry if this is a dumb question.
also what kind of extracurricular activities should I have for the application?
oh it's because most of my friends went there and I guess my parents and I want to pursue a higher education. but in that case, I could also put down jr because jr also does edutest. Is there a reason why you want to transfer to baulko? The only good reasons for transferring are better STEM subjects, because HGHS is weak in them, and maybe extracurricular sports.
If you really want to apply, though, I think academic comps (e.g. maths olympiad, AMC, ICAS, etc), sports and leadership are good extracurriculars to have. However, they're not crucial because the people I know who got in from Hornsby didn't actually do that many activities; they just had good academic reports
Hmm okay fair enough, I wouldn't consider baulko to be much of a higher education given they're both highly ranked selective schools, but it does seem to be the general viewoh it's because most of my friends went there and I guess my parents and I want to pursue a higher education. but in that case, I could also put down jr because jr also does edutest.
i have a medal and some badges from yr 5 and 6 for maths olympiad but apparently the school's don't really care about them according to some people I asked. i also have a writing comp certificate and grade 4 piano if that's good enough. i also have a leadership trophy from primary school. i don't think this is enough though and by the way, wouldn't the higher schools not care about academics since they have so many people who are good at them already?
thanks for replying though![]()
hey so i actually tried out for edutest in yr 8 and i got like almost all grades A plus i did a bunch of extra cirriculars but to get the skl to actually accept u, you need to get at least like one superior. i got 2 high averages and 3 above averages but that still wasn't enough. u dont need to get all superiors but im pretty sure if u at least get superior in one then u should be fine. im trying out for edutest again this yr and im also trying to upgrade skls cause mine's not that great and i want higher education. also the tests u buy on the edutest website are lowkey useless from my experience, like they're good to show u how the test is like but the real test is harder than they make it seem and i did older grades when i was practicing in yr 8 and it still didn't help much. ive read that a bunch of others agree but maybe it'll work for uoh it's because most of my friends went there and I guess my parents and I want to pursue a higher education. but in that case, I could also put down jr because jr also does edutest.
