Yeah it’s cause year 11 entry is only 15 people so they don’t care if those people contribute academic value to the school, cause they already have enough competition there. They just use them dir extracurriculars to represent the school at senior levels cause everyone’s studying in y11,12

y11 entry people typically perform below average or nothing too exceptional in the hsc because they have little time to adapt to the competition compared to earlier entrants, except for a portion of them that score really well,

yeah exactly and also cause a portion people that got in thru selective don’t care about high school and drag the school down so they use junior transfers to replace them kinda

is it just me or is this concerning since they are selecting majority of kids who have a lot of extracurricular, great reports AND test marks, leaving other kids who spent many hours, weeks months only to get rejected for not being able to juggle a tight schedule at a young age in their HS yrs, for other stuff like extracurricular, just to recover their choice of choosing yr 11 entry kids (which is rlly late for transfer imo). that is sad ngl like seriously stuffed up tbh

ues it is really concerning. The whole transfer thing is definitely quite shady. And yeah it’s quite inhumane to be expecting so much from kids who want to transfer but they might be doing that to maintain their school prestige but still. And yeah definitely the kids who work hard and get rejected, are the ones I feel bad for the most. I mean if they work very hard, have good working ethics and they applied; it means that they can use their ethics in a school environment they love only to be rejected. And then kids with 2992929 extracurricular get accepted quite easily especially in year 11. I’ll say one thing, a lot of transfers don’t end up doing well and it’s quite obvious why. Year 11 is really late to be applying, definitely if your school is toxic go for it, but a lot of students here that applied are already in good schools with good positions. Of course there are students who were year 11 transfers and scored amazing on the hsc but no one can confidently say that that will be them

Plus there’s a lot of bias in the selection panel. My younger friends been applying to ruse for all years and got rejected despite having fantastic results and she really hard worked so of course it’s unfair. And if you ask for a remark or recheck the schools just slaps you with the generic sorry we expect high standards all across the board, all whilst selecting a student who underperformed in something like th edutest per say. Unfortunately it’s not like we can do anything unless the school selection panels change, and the schools do get selfish. They only select students for their gain not for the benefit of students or not for giving students another chance at a better school. It’s all just a process to improve and maintain the prestige of a school

That's why it's called a selective school, they can only select the very best. If they did not select it would be called a public school

There was only 1 spot for year 8 this year. Because of the amount of people applying of course there will be multiple year 7 kids with 5 superiors, but they can only choose the best to fill up the spots of people who left. So they narrow it down by looking at reports and extracurriculars.
By year 11, not many people take the test and some people who get accepted reject the offer, as it is hard to adjust to a new friend group and different marking standards.

For year 10 it depends on how many people leave, this year it was 1. For year 11 it's ~10

yeah lmao i mean year 8 entry is slim cause no one really enters that fast, but year 11 idk why its there, its too far in the school years to be there, and usually its mediocre people who get in, so theres not really any point of having year 11 transfers, but it is what it is (
