Random question but can anyone who got into Penrith or Girraween in year 10 tell me a realistic hast mark they’d accept considering my portfolio would look like this if I lock in:

Y9 sem 1: 7As, 1B (pdh)
Y8 sem 2: 6As, 2Bs (pdh, geo)
Y8 sem 1: 4As, 4Bs (pdh, geo, woodwork, maths)

Excs + competitions:
Top band in every naplan
Part of panorama team
Participated in debating comp
Top 5% in the science 8 test
Plays soccer and my team won the premiership
Referees for soccer and has done academy and grand final matches
Part of the enrichment program the school offers

Idk if that portfolio is enough since I got like top 30 in hast last time

99.9999% yes bc top hast skl rlly expect students to have high attendance so if they were to select them they can attend a lot extracurrcular n keep with their studies. also they've strict rules for absence per semester, (how do uk bc i read the attendance section of girraween handbook n man it was rlly firm with its rules). so yea imo it can hinder ur application

oh i see but what about like if you have perfect attendance (or close) in the semester after it? like say u had bad attendance and then really good attendance next year, i think they would let that slide then?

hello everyone can I ask a question, how many absences in a semester would actually hinder your 8-11 selective application, like hypothetically if someone's grades were alright absences were a bit high (maybe even like 20) in a semester, what would their situation be at?

Also what if their attendance bounced back in the next semester?

I honestly think it doesn't matter they litterally only look at test scores, grades, extracurriculars if they still have more applicants remaining then they just open more spots so i dont think they take attendence into consideration. This is my assumption but i just might be totally wrong.

that portfolio is good but maybe do 3 or more exc outside of skl, skl wards probs, competition awards like big sci or smt a tangible evidence into ur portfolio n yea that should be good for ur penrith or girra attempt

mb guys im prolly so late, but basically when i applied this yr to 1. syd tech 2. hurlstone 3. mac fields, im pretty sure for these type schools order does matter since a kid in my grade at tuition, he got into hurlstone which he ranked pref. 1 even tho he got same hast bands as me, and i got rejected from hurlstone, i made it to sydney tech, but that could be bcuz more vacancies, although come to think of it , i swear i heard everyone getting into hurlstone, like one in every 4 hast kids in my area (random statistic i made up) got into hurlstone.. and @Smartboiiii said he got rejected from syd tech cuz he ranked it 3rd, im not sure about top ranked schools (or mainly edutest schools), but i think they care a lot more about ECs too, also since none of the top ranked schools use HAST, its hard to tell, but i think for hast schools pref. might matter subtly.

do you guys reccomend any good recources to use for the yr 10 hast girra entry. was there anything that rlly helped yall, and do you guys have anything to say abt the difficulty level and thoughts on how the exam went and what types of questions appered, which one was hardest?????

- maybe do aus maths/science/engineering/history/geo comp (my hsie teacher made our entire class do the History and geo comps in term 2, since we're the top class, and i got a distinction)

i think do leadership roles like SRC, u already have sports so thats good, and maybe those academic comps will strengthen ur application more for top schools

Do amc, big science, Australian Geography Competition, do cadets or smt, netball club, grind a lot in academic awards, get into prospect zones n ask for its award or smt to attach it to ur portfolio, do scholarships like Harding Miller foundation ( they give u awards for being successfully selected) they accept kids who are in yr 8 rn, do breakfast club, gardening, knitting, The Australian Maths Competition, do some editor role in ur skl newslater or smt, swimming Carnival, Cross Country Carnival, Athletics Carnival, knockout team, do unsw maths competiton, attach letter or awards saying ur a good kid wthvr like a a good news letter, positive behavour awards, principal refernce letter (u will be required to provide it if ur doing harding miller scholarships) etc

imo (for girra) if you do good in hast ur in my excs were ass but i did pretty good in hast so i got in focus more on hast,
