I just think people have caught onto Spain's system and devised a way around it, or they could have just had a really bad day. Either way, I'm not a fan of Spain - I want to be entertained.

but spain's football is the most beautiful to watch :( counter attacking styles are also interesting tbh.

it'll be good to watch bosnia properly as i havent watched too many full games of theirs before because they weren't televised in australia and streams were really hard to find.

Bosnia scored the most goals in the qualifying stages in Europe, so they know how to find the net, thats for sure

not everyone, moreso teams with players who have played in the champions league etc. or international teams that play a lot of other high tier teams

also talking about the other match today, mexico vs cameroon, man is eto'o a joy to watch, saw snippest of the match and it was actually pretty enjoyable

All the better teams will beat Spain, even Chile have a huge chance now to upset Spain. As a United fan i hope Mata and De Gea get a run in the next match

Yep, waking up at 7:30 for that - should be a great match.

Anyone else filling up a wall chart? I loved my wall chart four years ago, filling it in after every match with a Sharpie... that was pretty cool.

The one I have now doesn't have a space to put in the final group table which is a bit disappointing but ah well!

I honestly believe the "tiki-taka" is the best tactic to use in world football. The problem that Spain and Barcelona have become is that it isn't the system or the style but the players. In Barcelona players pass the ball around but there is no movement or no runs in behind the defense. Barcelona players like to play in-front of the teams defense and it makes the system look stale. You see under Tata (obviously he's gone) how the team is playing with vertical play and making more runs behind the defense. That is why last season Barcelona have scored more goals in the first half of their campaign. People also have to realize that tiki-taka needs one extra component to make it useful. Total football. Players not having a base position.
Having played with experience under tiki-taka, the total football comes naturally (or else tiki-taka does not work!)

The issue with tiki-taka is that you can concede by making mistakes on the field. Its very easy to turn over the whole game with tiki-taka by making a few mistakes. Also, tiki-taka gets bogged down in the last third of the pitch and becomes difficult to manoeuvre. So this is when you require the defence to leave a gap for you to go through and penetrate. This is best done by confusing the shit out of the defence. Yesterday it took 3 switches of play using tiki-taka to confuse the defence and leave a huge gap and then the goal came through like it was nothing.

In tiki-taka you could do it with a single striker. Its all about a strong midfield and defensive line. As long as you have someone who can beat the keeper in one on one's then you can still successfully implement it.

the only way you can win with tiki taka is if you have a beast CF like Messi was at Barca under Pep and how David Villa was for SPain in 2010

Ivory Coast vs Japan was a great match

Japan sort of turned off after their first goal at 16'

Then Drogba came on at about 60', and you could really feel the confidence of the Ivory Coast team peaking, 2 minutes later a beautiful header in by one of the Ivory Coast, then another 2 minutes later another cross from the exact same position to net the second goal

Ivory Coast wasted a lot of chances in first half though imo
