Re: Semester II Chatter Thread! That reminds me, I need to apply to transfer to law at some point. Ho ho ho, as if my marks will be high enough. Yeah, I seem to spend half my life doing ancient readings nowadays. Plus my history tutor is threatening to deduct marks if we don't do the readings...

First year MedSc is basically physics, chem, bio (microbiology rather than human biology, at least in second semester) and maths. Second year I have no idea about.

There's actually been some interesting research lately suggesting that trade liberalisation results in net gains for third world farmers, because it pushes down the total price of goods they buy more than it pushes down the total price of goods they sell. Can't remember where I saw it, though.

What were we meant to learn from today's lecture? I skipped the second half, so I might have missed something important, but it seemed that it was entirely about drawing vague links from protests to 'sovereignty' and 'territory' and 'space'.

Re: Infoday/USYD Live Taking the stairs in Fisher Library is like a minor cardio workout as well. I remember last semester, I had to run from the Quad to Bosch and then next hour run all the way back up to the Quad again. Twas awesome. But now the longest walk I have between classes is Teachers...

If you're referring to Canberra, I believe Canberra doesn't have the hotel space to host all the delegates, staffers, media, etc. Because it's a very brief fireworks display that you'll probably be able to see on TV, and which you can go and see from the north shore or from Pyrmont or wherever...

Labor didn't gain power through strikes. It was formed by the unions as an alternative to strikes, because the massive strikes of the 1890s had failed to achieve change.

Re: Semester II Chatter Thread! Gah! The library website won't let me access a journal article and it's driving me insane. Why couldn't the department of archaeology just give us a printed reader rather than forcing us to grapple with this newfangled e-journal thing?

I don't like the staircase in Transient. I'm too tall for it, so if I'm not paying attention I hit my head on the overhead beam.
