    Year 11 Workshops

Re: Year 11 Wokshops Yeah, I don't think going to these things will significantly change someone's mark. It mainly just helps refresh your memory and allows you to see your weaknesses and what areas you need to study and focus on (however you'll have to do that yourself - they don't do it for...

    Holidays before year 12?

For English... I'm going to try and find some texts for belonging - and some notes for belonging - wonder if those study guides for belonging are out yet? I wouldn't study too much these holidays... because it's probably our last break until the end of Year 12.

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? We get KISS notes for physics, chem and bio. I don't do chem and bio, but I have KISS notes for physics, and they're pretty good at giving a simple summary and making concepts clearer. However, I wouldn't just depend on KISS for studying - tried that once...

    Holidays before year 12?

You can always download the syllabus and start learning of that. I believe as long as you've got the syllabus and a text book, you can always study for the HSC. However, your teacher hating you shouldn't mean that she won't help you for the HSC. It's her job and if she's not fulfilling it - I'd...

    school captain/prefects thoughts

Re: School captainincy nominations I don't think school captaincy should be taken lightly, and you shouldn't vote for someone just because you like them as a person. At my school, we don't have these nomination speeches. Anyone who has successfully become a prefect can nominate for college...

    school captain/prefects thoughts

Re: School captainincy nominations I wouldn't go that far. just be honest, and be 'down to Earth' and don't appear too cocky. However, I believe, if you are good enough to become a school captain, you don't need a speech to persuade people. If you're going to get it, you'll get it ... speech...

    Year 11 Workshops

Re: Year 11 Wokshops I went to the Alpha Omega Workshops (I've been to the physics one and I'm going to the business one on Friday - which is today - 4:30-9 arrghh). They provide a pretty good summary of the course, pretty good revision - however it is a bit brief, so you cannot just depend on...

    Holidays before year 12?

I've got my maths HSC to study for... but yeah other then that.. I'm just going to relax and maybe get some preperation done for year 12. By the way, is anyone organising another "Bos meet" like in the summer holidays (even though that never ended up happening) - just curious.

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? I think Jacaranda is prob the best book for Physics because it goes into a lot of depth, and a book that doesn't cover all that's required in the syllabus... isn't a good text book in my opinion.

    2008 Preliminary Roll Call

Anyone who says that a subject is 'easy' or a 'bludge' is wrong. You have to work hard in any subject, otherwise you will not get a decent mark. Nobody can fluke their way in the HSC. But enough of that... welcome guys.

SOR I speech task, need some help

If you're planning to use the Roman Catholic Church, I'd suggest using a Protestant church as your second church (specifically I'd choose the Baptist church) because they have different teachings and practices based on communion. For example, if you do choose to use the Roman Catholic and...

    school captain/prefects thoughts

Re: School captainincy nominations Maybe try and make it a bit more personal, like for example instead of saying 'representing your school' I'd make it more personal... like use the school's nickname. For example if I were to make a speech I'd say "I'm representing Pats or I'm representing the...

    2008 Preliminary Roll Call

I agree with that. I'm planning to keep 12 units for the HSC - because I'm planning to do Extension 2 Maths, because in case I flunk out - I have something to fall back on. Also because I've accelerated, it won't be too bad having 12 units. But yeah, I think, try and do 10 units, unless you are...

True that. Our english teacher even told us that our school chose relationships to help us with Belonging.

    2008 Preliminary Roll Call

It's better to have the minimum 10 units as it will allow you to concentrate on each subject and excel and there will be a less workload, however there is a higher risk as if you 'flunk-out' you have nothing to fall back on. P.S. Welcome to all the new members.

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? I think Macquarie is better than Excel... however, I think they're both crap.. maybe it's because of my subjects. Do Macquarie make books for Mathematics?

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? That's what my maths teacher does. Sometimes when he explains us something, our class goes wtf. So he gets out Maths in Focus and gives us examples from that. It actually does help... it's thanks to maths In Focus that I understand Inverse Trig =]

    school captain/prefects thoughts

Re: School captainincy nominations Wow, that seem more complicated than mine. Ours is just, you nominate, students and teachers get equal votes, results come in, and then gets audited by the college executive. I think that's pretty fair (probably because i made it to prefect). We have a...
