    Should English Be Compulsary Poll

They don't have a disability - well one or two broke their arm or something, but most of them are in the Special Education class, so if being in special education is a disability then yes, otherwise they have no problems other than low literacy levels.

If they accepted it, it should be ok.

    Should English Be Compulsary Poll

That's the thing. The BOS I think; has not focused enough on these areas in the primary and junior high school years. Then we have a problem when senior school students cannot write or spell simple words properly. Like for example at my school, some guys in Year 12 have to get readers/writers...

    English EXT

But how can forcing them to do a harder level make them better. If they were anything like my school, if you get crap results, they'll just shove more people into the lowest levels so they ripp it. Like the amount of capable student who get shoved into standard at my school is ridiculous.

    Subject Selection

I think he/she is just not too clear about how they are accelerating - like I thought I was skipping prelims last year as well. I'm pretty sure a school would just force you to skip something, or not teach something everything that is required by the BOS. I think, if he/she is 100% sure they...

    School certificate exams

Same here. I believe, you should just enjoy Year 10 while it lasts. Start working in Year 11 and it will build up to Year 12. If you full go at it hard in Year 10, I guarantee you will burn out.

    Subject Selection

Well maybe their school has a way of teaching the prelim and HSC course in the same year. Like when I did the accelerated course last year, I thought I was skipping my prelim as well, however I later realised that those topics we learnt first were Prelim, not HSC. I'd say, if the school...

    School certificate exams

Exactly. The whole School Certificate is bullshit in my opinion. Isn't this year group the last to sit the SC, or is it another rumour like last year?

What do your teachers think of us???

Most teachers tell us to leech resources. But they just look at me in a funny way, when I tell them I actually post.

    Should English Be Compulsary Poll

As much as I hate saying this... I think English should be compulsory - especially in Years 7-10. People need to have the basis to be able to communicate and express themselves, and English allows us to develop skills which we need to do this. Even if you think we don't need it, just like having...

    Subject Selection

Well yeah, we did learn Year 11 topics, we crammed them in the first half of Term 1. But officially I haven't completed the preliminary course for Ext 1 (only for 2 unit because I accelerated last year).

    School certificate exams

Basically this is my theory on schooling in NSW: You fail your school certificate... just indicates you'll have to work harder next year. (However, I don't know how anyone can fail the SC, I did no study at all, and I managed to get all Band 5s and 6s - and I don't see myself as that smart)...

I skipped my prelims, we just cramm the whole two year course in one year.

Chances of getting into a selective school?

I think they would really only care about the Year 10 report, because a lot of people improve and their current level/standing would be more important.

Anybody planning on sacrificing something for yr 12?

Yeah, but it depends on how much of it you actually use for study. For example you could sacrifice the time you sleep... sleep less - more time to do stuff. But in saying that ... I'm not going to sacrifice my sleep.

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? Well yeah true. For me, colour suits me the best, and so do books which go into depth and fully cover the syllabus.
