    Phys1003

How difficult is the content of this unit? I understand this is the technologically focused one and contains lots of work with circuits as well as .. second year maths?? (I saw surface integrals on the formula sheet). Thanks :)

    Will I get in?

Have a look and see if you're done subjects eligible for the flexible entry scheme for your specific course.

UNSW Prep Program (Engineering) or UWS Electrical Engineering

To do the prep program (17-19) you have to be eligible for ACCESS which basically means that you're eligible for EAS. The UPP is 1.5 years long but can be shortened to 1yr if you well in the maths units. It is also free (except for SA fees) and you only do 3 subjects per semester instead of 4...

    USYD

They will only consider you for flexible entry if you fall 5 points below this years cut-off if you have done well in relevant subjects. Even if you have done well in relevant subjects and and fall >5 points they will not consider flexible entry. Also, they are not bonus points but a criteria...

Question about MIF and the Cambridge year 12 2 unit textbook

Geometric applications of calculus is on Cambridge 2U YR11 textbook, I would recommend trying to get some exercises from that since there more challenging exercises on that then MIF.

USYD vs UTS vs UWS Nursing?

No, but employment prospects during this time is much higher than many other professions.

    Did I pick good subjects?

"The head of the UNSW School of Mathematics and Statistics, Professor Bruce Henry, said a student hoping to study maths or engineering at university should take extension mathematics at high school. He said it was ‘‘totally irresponsible’’ and ‘‘misleading’’ if students were being advised to...

    Did I pick good subjects?

It's not an advantage (unless you did 4U since you relearn complex and some functions stuff). Not doing any form of senior high school maths will be massive disadvantage unless you take TAFE courses for math or self-learn/tutor. Also what you said wouldn't necessarily be true for...

    Did I pick good subjects?

Srsly you should buy the Cambridge 2U & self learn as much content (esp calculus and functions)

    Did I pick good subjects?

MQ has prerequisites (B4 2U maths), bridging course has assumed knowledge of basic 2U.

    Did I pick good subjects?

If you struggle with high school maths and science, gg engineering.

Shouldn't be too hard to transfer but it really depends on the uni whether they let you into second year that's really up to amount of credit transferred, you should contact UWS about this.

    Science Uni Advice

TBH you're better off moving overseas (US) if you want a career in astronomy not to mention you need a minimum of a PhD to be even considered for basic research position (extremely rare in Australia). UQ is good for science and engineering would be a good discipline to fall back on.

    Did I pick good subjects?

How would you know you won't blow uni maths then? If you get in your desired course, you're going to have major problems if you don't have the assumed knowledge for maths. Most university bridging courses have assumed at least 2U maths. Bridging courses for no hsc maths/general are available but...

To 2014 HSCers - Trial papers

Not sure about physics but for chemistry they brought the CSSA papers and made modifications to it.

    sibt engineering

Do note that SIBT is expensive (no HECS), catered towards international students. But yes if you transferred into 2nd year engineering at MQ you should probably get your math, physics and computing units credited when you enter UWS

Maybe do a general engineering degree first then transfer into a stream?

HSC Marker admits that some markers only read intro of essay!?

Yeah that's pretty much what every English teacher I've had for yr 11,12 who have marked said. They say they read your thesis+intro, topic sentences then just quickly skim through the rest since they all have so much to mark. Plus, it really is the intro the markers mainly use to determine if...
