    Deprivation of creativity

Hey guys, I am at the stage in my major work in which I just can't think of anything to write, or any particular direction. And what I've written already looks like total crap to me now. It's really getting me down. How do I combat this?

    T-Minus 32 hours

Wow, I'm so glad I haven't had any assessments to do over the holidays! I'm taking it easy for the rest of the night..this weekend I dedicated to quality relaxation time. If I hadn't I would probably have used all my energy and not have any left for the rest of the year. Good luck with...

    Missed Opportunities?

I wanted to do Chinese but open high doesn't offer it and the Saturday School is too far away. Darnit - I could have done beginners - only 25 people in the whole state did it in 2006!

    german version of d.o.r.a

Oh, and I forgot to mention that WRMD was not the German equivalent of DORA becuase DORA was a more censorship-based act to glorify Britain's perception of the war, while WRMD was strictly to control the 'war raw materials'.

    german version of d.o.r.a

I think (don't quote me on this) that the War Raw Materials Dept controlled all the rationing of products due to the allied blockades of their merchant ships, and when the war got really tough on them (around 1917) they began to make 'food substitutes' i.e. coffee beans substituted by acorns...

    Crime fic: creative writing

Past EE1 students, please share your advice! How did you prepare your imaginative piece for crime fiction? I know we're pretty early on in our studies, but I want to start thinking ahead. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Mentor available for Extension 2 (Mentoring thread)

Me too! Except I'm a bit wary of the whole over-the-internet thing..I'd prefer one on one. But I don't know whether any of you live near me...I'm in the hills district. If there's a mentor who's interested, PM me!

The death of the New year

I've written 4 poems, but they're just ideas, nothing complete yet. By about which time should I have finished my first draft?

Yeah, I've looked at the HSC online website. It covers the 'quantitatively' part but not the 'qualitatively' part.

    2007 Poets

Gah! I've only been in the class for a month and already the major work is taking over my life. Every spare moment I find myself thinking, "would this be a good idea?", "what if I change it to this?" It's quite frustrating because my concept keeps metamorphosising, but that's the whole...

    Hear ye, Hear ye!

Hello! I am here. Why do there seem to be a very sparse number of poets this year?

Why is everyone doing their HSC?

I would like to get into Asian Studies or International Studies @ UNSW or USYD. If that fails then perhaps Bachelor of Arts (Languages). A while ago I had this crazy dream of going to Harvard. I hate money, it puts restrictions on everything. Just because I am poor does not necessarily mean I...

    Extension English 2

I am doing Ext 2 and it is probably the one subject I am actually LOOKING FORWARD to! Mind you, I do love Modern. Anyway, I think that if you love English and have a passion for writing you should GO FOR IT. Bear in mind that you'll have to be extremely well-organised (as NobodyKnows said)...

Preliminary is over, how do you feel?

I feel quite pleased with myself. I achieved most of the goals I set, and now that I have a fairly set study program and method all I have to do is stick to it and I should do fine in the HSC. I'm just a bit scared that stress will get the better of me - with prelim it was reasonably OK to...

    Past Ext 2 Poems...

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've already started my major work (or at least have a concept), which is quite fortunate, as it means I'm already ahead of most of my peers, who think Ext 2 is going to be 'easy' and thus have not even begun to think of their major work. I just hope it all...
