mmm yeh i mean people here get sentences like not much more than that for killing/raping people.. and there wasnt even sufficient evidence to find her guilty
"wow its in her bag.. it must be hers"
did anyone else flip out when they said 100 million rupeas only to find its $14000
i just feel bad that bali is going to lose alot of their income now.. people are scared that the same thing will happen to them

so?...
thats their system
deal with it
if peopel dont like it
then dont smuggle drugs to indonesia
But she is likely to be innocent, dont try an use logic that works in "innocent until proven guilty systems" for this case as they simple dont apply. How bout someone plants drugs on u and u go do 20 years

Schappelle Corby was a former escort girl, whose father and brother have had plenty of criminal offences including drug handling.

This often gets overlooked and all i see on the news is 'beauty student was going on a holiday with friends'. Why do they feel like they have to beautify everything about Australia?

I don't know if she's innocent or not, and i can't pass judgement on that, but there shouldn't be exceptions or softening a sentence for a person just because John Howard wrote a letter and the extensive media coverage. I don't see why people are making a fuss about why translators and press aren't allowed in the courtroom. It's a courtroom, not a circus.

Someone posted this on another forum...I think its a good point.

What kind of justice system does indonesia have, like someone said, one of the bali bombers was sentenced to 20 years for murder. To liken what Schapelle apparently did to the bali bombers is ridiculous.
agreed, 20 years is ridiculous, it's painfully obvious that she's not guilty. now, now, i'm not nesescarily saying she's innocent (but i do believe she is), but there was enough of a defense case to create more than reasonable doubt.

all you people saying, boohoo, we shouldnt interfere with another countries system, we're not, that doesnt mean we cant criticise it. btw, i wonder how many people saying she's guilty and we shouldnt interfere also supported the war on iraq (like that wasnt interfering).

just because an obviously only semi-democratic court said she was guilty, doesnt make it so

exactly...everyone is still convinced shes innocent
but shes been PROOVEN...and i think that their court syetem and stuff would be better at judging her then you and me
you keep saying that... but you arent going to sway anyones opinions... we have all got our own opinions and that one is your own so leave it at that dont try make it someone elses... we still beleive she is innocent... from wat i hear that judge has put every single person he has ever tried away do you think he is gonna make a change to that. she was only prooven cause of the ONE peice of evidence which they feel was more than enough time and time again we saw footage of schapelle making her statements and the judges looking like they were about to nod off for a quick nap in fact it even looked that way today... it seems to me that although she is prooven i still feel she is innocent and not enough consideration was taken

Everyone is quick to attack other judicial systems - what about Australia? Mandatory sentencing and immigration detention basically imprison innocent people - and there are many, many INNOCENT Indonesions in our detention centres. Corby is guilty of an offence in INDONESIA and that's final. Just because she is Australian doesn't mean she should be exempt from the laws of the country in which she was found guilty. The case may have distinctive flaws in it - but no one has a right to attack legal systems, saying that they are arbitrary and unfair. These are ignorant allegations. Indonesia has an inquisitory system - exactly the same as the systems of Western Europe which are successful.

But I heard Schapelle "admitted" she was guilty?

**is confused and stupefied by school gossip**
i think that was a thing of mistranslation. she was asked if the bag was hers. to which she replied yes. therefore they assume that she was admitting ownership to the 4.1kg of marijuana in her bag

There is no logic in selling as product for less then you brought it for, when you can sell it for a higher price and alot easier.
Also baggage handlers were operating in a scam involving transport of drugs between Brissi and Sydney.

I couldnt care less what natio she is
Dude ur indo or somethin arent u

She was found guilty so how people can continue to say she is innocent I just don't understand.

i just dont see how she could be guilty!
if she knows about the country and their laws why would she take a bag of marijuana there to sell when she could get so much more here and not have the possibilty of a death penalty.
then again using idea that i have no idea about the mentality of the bali 9..

Just cause someone is found guilty doesnt automatically make it so, just as being found innocent doesnt always mean it is so.
Example of someone found innocent, but later guilty (of course double jeopody came in so nothing eventuated): OJ Simpson

there is fucking evidence she is guilty who gives a fuck if she didnt handle the bag. i dont care if her finger prints arnt on it.

There are 100's of people in australian jails with far less evidence against them.

lets loook at freeeeeeeeeing some of them.

Indonesians are fucking corrupt, and our government turned over the bali 9.
Can someone answer the question - did the afp break the law, by turning over the bali 9?

our government says it cant interven in other countries legal systems - why did it intervene and fuck up the bali 9 - if your not going to help australian citizens stay the fuck out of their businesss.

if they wanted to freee shapppelle they could have bribed the fucking government with the tysnami money.

And fucking david hicks.

Our government doesnt give a shit.
