But honestly I don’t even remember the difference between the union where it’s like an n and then the other one where it’s up like a u. So this is easier to remember

yeah i lowkey struggled with that too the first time i learnt the notation
but for me i just thought U for union
and n (cos it kinda looks like a lowercase n) for intersection

yeah, same for me. probability just doesnt click for me, i cant imagine it in my head like other topics

I think probability is lowkey my best section. Especially discrete probability.

i just imagine a venn diagram. union is like, the entire venn diagram. so A and B and the parts where A and B intersect.
intersection would be just the middle, where A and B intersect

yuppp freedom! advanced math fell off so hard after prelims, its a really boring course 90% of the time

They should add more proofs for concepts in Advanced Maths to make it more logically and less on memory.

yeah. the satisfaction that comes with proofs is soooo nice and its sad theres barely any in the advanced course

ikr? i loveeeee proofs. every time i do a cool proof i always take a photo of it

I know right! The syllabus does not even provide proof for the chain rule for example or quotient rule in calculus topic.

yeah it really sucks because the first time i learnt the chain rule and stuff, it felt like pure rote learning.
but if you look into the proofs for those rules, they look less like random variables chucked together and actually make sense

Other degree I’m doing is comp sci, I did have an early offer for actl but I was kinda scared to be locked into one particular path (esp one so exam heavy since I don’t perform well under a lot of pressure) so thought I’d see how this goes and if I still wanna do it after a year I’ll thing abt transferring
