yall my dad's making me go UTS even though i got into UNSW bc he thinks i cant keep up with the workload gg 💔

i would make a seperate post about asking for advice but i dont want coolcat responding with his UTS hate propaganda 😭
But unsw’s better. And is the workload really that much of a difference. Just say that they have a staffing and financial issues which is true cause if u really wanna go to unsw u should be able to and it’s up to u to do decide if u can manage the workload or not

what questions did they ask?? if you dont mind. (asking for a friend interviewing for another place, not art of smart )
Ok so I did the AOS interview here’s what happened:
1. General questions getting to know you (E.g. What are you planning to study in uni, what courses you want to teach, etc. Nothing complex)
2. You have a mock lesson. I taught a 3u topic solids around a revolution. (Make sure to ask any questions and engage, treat this like a 1-1 not a lecture.)
3. Then you will get scenario-based questions where ethe give you a problem that student is facing and you have to resolve the issue. (E.g. a student is disengaged with the topic and always arriving late to class.)

I hope this helps :)

i did some research and found that UTS is ranked significantly higher than UNSW for data-based courses, so i've just accepted going to UTS in the end. It just kinda sucks since i had my eyes on UNSW since yr 10, but if UTS is better for the specific course i'm doing i'll go 🤷‍♀️

UTS is actually so trash. The fact that UTS paid USnews money to bump up their rankings is so sad 🧕🏻

tell me what's good about UTS? I rightfully thought of UTS as a tafe with lipstick since always
First it’s closer for most people, it has more practical work which actually prepares u for future work. It’s even that bad in terms of ranks, overall environment, etc

also:
  • Industry Connections & Practical Learning
UTS is known for its strong focus on practical, hands-on learning and close ties with industry. If you want more internships, work placements, or projects with real companies during your studies, UTS often shines.
  • Modern Campus & Facilities
UTS has a super modern and tech-focused campus right in the Sydney CBD, with sleek buildings and cool tech labs. Some students love the vibe and accessibility of UTS because it’s right in the heart of the city.
  • Innovative Courses
UTS tends to offer more flexible, innovative, and industry-relevant courses, especially in tech, design, and business fields. They often update courses to match current job market needs.
  • Smaller Classes & Support
Depending on the course, UTS can have smaller class sizes, which means more interaction with lecturers and better support for students.
  • Reputation for Certain Fields
UTS is particularly strong in areas like IT, design, engineering, and business from an applied perspective.
