Anybody see Ryan Sidebottom shoulder charge Grant Elliot and Collingwood appealing.

Yeah, saw it on the news. In the interests of sportsmanship Collingwood probably should have withdrawn the appeal, but I understand why he didn't.

In other news, thanks to Duckworth/Lewis Australia beat the West Indies by 63 runs to take a 2-0 series lead.

Yeah, I agree, I worded it poorly. However, good to see Mike Hussey get a few runs and Shane Watson bowl pretty well.

Asia Cup 2008

Well its all over now - Sri Lanka consecutive champions
And you have to say it was an allround performance by the Sri Lankans
Batting - Jaysuria led the onslaught with a quickfire hundred and although many others didnt fire except Dilshan - they managed a very decent target
However the main talking point out of this final is really:

  • Mendis - is he the next Murali
  • Are India falling to perform on the big occasion
  • Are there faults with Indian bowling lineup
  • and Where is Tendulkar???

almost all continents have their own competition but it is just not well known. People only ever talk about the European one.

i know it is a late news, but of all the great sporting heroes from nsw, why on earth did the scg trust pick victor trumper for its new stand? sure, he is the most ancient opening batsman who managed a decent average, but what about the waugh brothers?

or how about an afl player, in appreciation of all the years afl has stuck to scg as its home ground?

It may be because he's considered one of the greatest cricketers Australia has ever produced
He also played an important role in founding rugby leauge in Australia
edit: and lol at naming it after an AFL player

Totally agree, he was one of the greats of early Australian cricket. It was unfortunate that he was taken to early by kidney problems in 1915.
