That would explain why late at night there's sometimes more supervisors than operators?

went to the new woolworths on st georges terrace in perth city today (its official opening was yesterday)
what an awesome store! - everything is so perfect and clean and new. it has soo many self serve checkouts (i read in the paper today that its the most in any store australia-wide.)

woolworths store format and 'look' is soo much more superior to coles. (went to a recently opened 'trial' store in claremont last month - although its an improvement it is sooo shite compared to woolies.)

its in the new 'enex100' development which is actually next to the BankWest Tower (so just east of William Street.) the development runs between Hay St Mall and StGeorges Terrace and woolworths is in the St Georges Terrace level.

I don't think that matters. They do expect you to devote 24.7 of your life to woolworths. If not, YOU FAIL AS A FRESH FOOD PERSON!
Yeah i was verbally abused by the area bakery specialist for taking 7 weeks of annual leave last year, over my HSC.
As far as he was concerned, I should have viewed my employment as "just as big a commitment" as my education.
Regardless, I still took my annual leave.

I see. What's an underforce?
People Planner calculates the number of supervisors and operators requires based on the sales forecast for the current week

i.e. in my store on saturday at 4:15 it usually calculates that we need 5 operators. now if we only have 3 operators on (which we usually do) then we have an underforce of 2. People planner will automatically determine that between opening hours there should be at least 1 supervisor.

I don't know about Woolworths, but if you've exhausted options by talking to the in-store people (store manager, etc) then try ringing Head Office HR, I know it's worked for some McDonalds people with bad bosses. I would assume that if Head Office HR say that you're right, the store leadership would get a bit of an earful.

bayside9 Talk to your office cashier. The same thing happened to me last year and they were really good about it. It was corrected within two weeks.

wixxy, some people just don't get that annual leave is annual leave, no matter what you use it for. I took time off for my exams recently and was told I needed to be more organised in my studies (wtf, you left school in year 10), yet people who just take holidays all the time have no issues.

I walk past this at least once a week, and I've never seen it. Although I went west at William Street today.

nothing to do on last sunday night was put into pull forward,
but they called it "face" or something,
i asked if that was just the same as pull forward,
and it was,
but why did they call it that?
what does it mean?
why is the earth round?

Gah! Hate my new store! Its so busy all the time, and the CSM refuses to roster accordingly because she "wants bonus". What a selfish bitch! There are only 15 checkouts all together, and when I'm on smoke shop which is whenever I'm not supervising I'm usually serving on express more then on smoke shop cos we're always busy...! The words "Can you serve on express for a bit"? maked me want to punch everyone. LOL, and the refurbishment for that store isnt till October :O

Supervising is a whoooole lot different. Constantly calling express alert and asking people to come out to a large lane and getting the eye role. STRESS! Never been so fucking stressed while working there. This would explain why all the other supervisors are grouchy! Told them I'm fully trained for office cashier but 'ohhhh NOOOO' apparently I have to be 18 (currently 17) to work in there. As if, I was training in there at 16 at my old store fools! But the manager just goes...ohh thats strange, and walks away!!!

Grrrrrrr, want back at my old store...how I miss it.

I feel for you mate. My new store is crap too...I call it new I've been there for about 3 months now. Everyone acts like a robot, they don't talk to each other and they practically bow down to the manager. There was a vacancy for a 2IC produce which I was at my old store, I applied and they go and hire a French builder with absolutely no produce or management experience?!?!?! I don't understand them here.

Then I went and got another part time job (4.5 hours a week) as a Sales Merchandiser because they weren't giving me enough shifts, now they are giving me even less! If I would I would completely quit and try and go full time with the company I'm repping with, because hey it's easier work and it's $6 an hour more. What would look better on the CV anyway? Working at Woolworths or working at Ferrero (Rocher, Nutella, Tic Tacs)?

I do that Fridays and Saturdays at Coles, we call it "facing up", I guess the name comes from the fact that you pull the "faces" of the products from the back to the front and generally tidy up.

The worst aisle to face up is probably the end of the cat/dog food with all those tiny cans, 'tis an absolute pig sty there, I don't even bother to tidy it up.
