What are the movement of reserve lists like? Have schools already checked their enrolment numbers or still doing that? I know from previous, that schools send out notices checking if people are continuing or leaving next year; I’m confused about if there are people who left after Term 1 then there are obviously places but still haven’t had any update from reserve list yet. School doesn’t release anything saying the Dept of Edu told them not to, but the Dept of Edu say they have nothing to do with selective after year 7. There is literally no way to get extra information from, idea of how to plan for next year or anything.
Anyone here who got offer from reserve after schools have done a head count of enrolments or something?

Yo -
If there are people that leave after Term 1 - it's often not for some sort of academic reason. Usually its because they are moving away from that area, or to another country. Unfortunately, the reserve list is not updated after these people leave because it would be too much of an interference for a student to catch up on an entire semesters worth of work. That's why offers are only made until the end of Term 1 - because completing the first term of work is much simpler, than say, doing the entire semester again.
Yeah - Dept of Edu doesn't have anything to do with the TEST itself - however adminstrative procedures, like the student records (required for transferring schools etc.) are managed by the Dept. of Edu. That's why they can enforce things regarding, well, administrative procedures - whereas ACER produces the test itself.
Hope that made sense.

Thanks for explaining
Yes, so that’s what I mean: reserve lists ended Term 1 this year. And if, like you explained, people left after that, there are spots. Just wondering when schools start to process their numbers and send out offers to fill those spots? It’s almost end of term now, it would be logical to send it out now as obviously no one is going to move schools the next few weeks. So if we know there are spots but still not movement from reserve list - this is what I’m confused and frustrated about. and no one is providing any information - school is saying they don’t release any info and dept of edu saying it’s managed internally. I’m just after some information so I can make plans

Hence just reaching out here, to see if anyone received offer from reserve list towards end of year?

Alright, I think I get your question now.
Here's how spots (to my understanding) are distributed after HAST and Selective results:
- Available/Additional Spots: Year 10 and Year 7 entry have a new class arranged. For most schools, they do an additional class in Year 10, although a few might make an extra class in Year 9 or 11.
- Previously Available Spots: These are the reserve spots you're talking about. Let's say someone leaves the school in the middle of the year or amongst the HAST Migration phase (August - October). These new spots, in addition to the reserve spots from last year that may not have been fulfilled (although that's very rare) are basically the only way to get into a Selective School for Year 8, 9, or 11 entry, with maybe one or two exceptions.
A reserve list offer is given around Term 3 and is valid until the end of Term 1 next year. A spot from someone leaving the school is given to the reserve list offers, with the exception of someone leaving after Term 1. That offer is given for the next test cycle.

I'm transition leader at my school rn, so I get to be involved with all the enrollment kind of things to see who's coming into the school new, and we have gotten people still accepting places and like rejecting places now even though offers came out nearly a month ago, so it definitely depends on the school.

You're the transition leader for Penrith right?
