guys have any of u heard anything about girraween entry for year 11?? As in has anyone received a call yet?

ok if you're worried, just wait for the rankings to come out early next year and if Girraween has a 10+ rank difference then apply there ig, but imo their rankings are always gonna be relatively similar and they seem to fluctuate kinda a lot and thats just what happens to schools in rank 30-45. i personally think that you should just apply to penrith bc its sm closer for u and this lowk sounds hypocritical bc of my own situation but travel time can do a LOT, like that 25 minute difference is more sleep or study or just more downtime between school and whatever u need to do afterwards. but you should also consider things like extracurricular culture, overall school culture, etc. (i personally think girra and penrith are very similar in the two aspects)

i genuinely cant believe im taking 13units though also is it true that they’ll stop u from dropping to 10units in year 12

lol i could never do 13 units ( i never heard of that im taking an accelerant sub loll, but i think you can drop to 10units plus if you perform badly in a sub they might let you switch or something

If I put penrith as first pref and girra as second, can I still get accepted into girra if I get rejected by penrith, or do they prioritize ppl who put the school as first more?

in year 8-11 entry they don't care about what place you put the school imo

yh, although that could just mean that penriths cohort last year was just better than girras, like an outlier, girra is usually better
girra ranks from the last 5 years: 27, 19, 30, 33, 33
penrith ranks from the last 5 years: 37, 33, 41, 36, 31
although it could be like how nsb beat ruse for 2 years but we'll never know until hsc results come out this year

baulko interviews are usually a formality but in the past they've asked:
"How will you cope with moving to a completely new school"
"Do you know anyone here currently?"
"What subjects do you plan on taking?"
"Why Baulko?"
"Why do you want to leave (old school)?"
"What can you contribute to the school?"
"What subjects do you wish to take next year?"

Although, I'd still recommend preparing more deep questions js incase

Nah I highly doubt it, both schools been dipping but I don’t think Baulkho would ever dip as far as going below nsg

What happened to this thread???? I went on holiday (for school holidays ofc) and now there seems to be sooo many helpful people

I personally tried out for girraween, Sydney tech and ruse y9 entry and failed them all (unsurprisingly) but I think it’s not cause I’m dumb but because I didn’t prepare..

Honestly, all I want is to just leave my current school which is ranked pretty high for public school which is cool in hindsight but the community and everyone just sucks. Ive wanted to get in selective to leave my current school because I don’t really have any loyal friends and even in the enrichment program, kids are all self focused and purposefully throw me down to let my grades tank.

I know I got a bit too personal into myself and idk why I said all that but next year I really REALLY wanna get into girra or Penrith and have a high tier school like baulko or something as my first choice. If there’s anyone who can help prepare for the hast or edutest PLEASE hmu because I heard they’re opening a new class in y10 which seems so doable for me.

I’m also really open to do new things and try new extracurriculars and maybe you guys can join me in some of them lol

Sorry for the yap session but my current school is rough so I’m determined to get in next year and even get into accelerated classes

ps: it’s currently 4am and I’m supposed to wake up in 3 hours for my first day back at school but I can’t sleep so I decided to just stay up ;D
