someone said they're not fully science, they're just like scientific diagrams. I'm still gonna prepare just in case. I mean how hard can it get?....
Personally for me it was a diagram of like patches and how they’re drugs or something and you hard to answer 3 questions regarding the diagram about like the order of the stuff placed.. I can’t remember fully

Nooo you can do it!! Your scores aren't even that bad. I'm sure you'll at least get an interview if you focus on all the subjects. I kinda only focused on abstract because I wasn't familiar with it, and ended up getting top 10% for that but middle 50 for the rest lol.
Lol I just don’t know where to begin, what to study etc and if a portfolio matters cause apparently mid ladder schools only care about hast mainly

reading - pretty sure in the middle or high middle of 50%
maths - dropped to high 50% or smt
writing - bottom 10%
abstract - in the top 10%/5%
Oh wow your writing definitely improved then
Any tips on how I can improve next year cause I also lwk kinda sold writing too 🙃

Lol but I’m not even kidding when the kids were walking with their parents getting picked up after the test, I literally heard like 5 kids say to their parents “the math was really hard” and I chuckled to myself (;

Same I have no idea how to prepare lol. I'm doing yr 9 entry for penrith and girra btw. I'm gonna have to aim for higher because they have less spots 🥀

wb ruse or baulko since they open up 30 spots? cause for penrith and girra theres barely any spots for year 9 entry

for Writing - idk how I got within the top 15%, like my previous attempts were in the bottom 10% during yr 8 n 9 entry.

but what i did diff was that i wrote using my my experience (aafc) n began w a title ( a penrith n girra kid told me to do that n i believe that's imp since the majority forget to write the title during exam) n have a good conclusion that links to the prompt by discussing it or telling how the character understood, did or what they learned in that narrative. Also, if u struggle w creativity during writing like me, then go to reedsyprompts. It's good n has abt many unique topics, etc.

ik the hast prompts r weird like they aren't the old style, they're more of a statement, u either agree or disagree. n the they become much easier to answer thru narrative n discussion, cuz that's the only way u can really agree/disagree or uniquely answer the prompt.

Yeah I'm totally gonna do ruse and maybe baulko, but I'd still have to aim for higher because they're like top schools. I wasn't actually gonna do HAST again for Penrith and girra, but this one person made it into both for year 9 entry, and their results weren't impossible to achieve. That kinda made me want to do it ig

really? i didnt realise not writing title was that common, writing title is lowkey my first instinct 😆 i got top 10% writing btw, but its weird since i spent least time practicing writing before HAST (since im skilled at writing) and spent most time working on abstract and maths, but i got middle 50 for abstract lol

Broooo I live all the way in carlingford so I gotta travel for almost 2 hours if I make tech but I’d love to sacrifice time if that means I’m in Sydney tech =v

Just wondering what did you use to prepare for the hast after you saw that you failed for year 9 entry? Were your reports the issue or just poor hast performance? Cause year 8 sem 1 I’m getting 4a 4b and year 8 sem 2 im getting 7a and 1b idk if that’s seen as competitive enough 😅

ngl reports are not that important for hast EXCEPT if its penrith, a person got top 2% (had 4cs in yr 8 s1) got in girra - rej from penr, I got top 4% i usually 4a's to 6a's rest bs and got into both, so you can definetly see the discrepancy in the deciding factors (obviously from my experience)

Yeah I see it
But I’m genuinely wondering how people are saying get top 10% in the hast like it’s the easiest thing in the world 😭

i used the zee file and i focused on weakness, which was writing creativity, graph reading n my reports last yr was good but i feel like it was both poor hast report n portfolio sucked
