    Elizabeth Case Study

Not at first, but by the end of it I understood an area of history I'd never studied before, which was a great feeling. It was an achievement.

is there a certain amount of entries needed for the process log???

I completely agree (but it's way too late to be getting people to do this!) Don't be scared by the 200 page process log, it depends on what it's worth and also it depends on the personality. That's not expected. Good luck! :)

    What the hell?

same size as a normal word document- 12 point font, double spaced though (Board of Studies regulations for those typing- same as English Extension 2 for those who do it). All on A4 paper, although labelling it at the end was a bit of a bitch. But I did it in the trial so I just wrote at the...

    Rome-al issues!

I'm no expert with the topic (did fall of the Roman Republic), but see if you can find the old Excel book (ie pre 2001). I read it as background, and I found it very useful, and I felt that I understood the topic at least a little bit. Also Scullard's Gracchi to Nero- he writes clearly on...

    Minoan confusion

depends on what society you do. For a society without any contemporary written evidence, and Minoan (written, not translated) and Mycenaean (written, way too technical), then you don't have to. For a society with plenty of evidence (Sparta, Athens), then yes you do need historians and...

What is your favorite Ancient Culture??

Ancient Greece. Absolutely no questions asked about that.

is there a certain amount of entries needed for the process log???

I'd say one page entrey per week (less length if there are more entries, but don't make the entries any less than that). I'm against fudging as a general rule, but fudge if you have to here. (To anyone seeing this when they begin their project- don't get into this situation!) Best of luck! :)

    Womens in Athens

Written: the Hippocratic corpus (about the nature of woman and her health- very useful as to the view of women- all women, not just Athenian, but can be used for Athens). It's a bit tough to read and some of the theories (like the movable womb) are a bit freaky, but it's a source that...

Too freaking lazy to keep going... I have assignments for all my ancient history subjects... but historiography is an art, but historiographers are all historians, and therefore the term is redundant by itself. Pointing out that you're also a historiographer is all well and good, but you can't...

    The Problem of Pamela Bradley

Sorry to seem aggressive but do you contest the word of all my ancient history teachers, lecturers, and tutors? Plus the markers I asked in the HSC Advice Line last year? You might have got away with it thus far in school, but you will not get away with it in the HSC, or in any other formal...

    What's the question want exactly..?

yeah Aeschylus, that's it. Hope I've been helpful :) I've heard something about carvings in Persia relating to Xerxes... as I said, I'm no expert, but if they exist, that's definitely a source (or more if there's more than one)

    What's the question want exactly..?

Well Xerxes wasn't my personality but I did do Greece 500-440 Herodotos The Histories is probably your bog standard text for Xerxes. Be careful though, he makes him out to be a hubristic meglomaniac for attacking Greece. Also the play "The Persians" (can't remember who it's by, begins...

    Question: Future Tense of Verbs

"werde" shouldn't be weird and uncomfortable: it's just like "will" in English- the form is just like the anglo form! e.g. "Ich werde ins Kino gehen", cf. "I will go to the cinema" - the same except for the position of the verb. Honestly, the future is one of the least of your worries...

    1. I've been at home the last couple of days, and haven't had a chance to look up the full OED. I have the Shorter at home, so that's what I used. Anyway, the terms that the Shorter OED doesn't have in it are usually not in common use. And please don't tell me what things mean in Ancient...

    Finding related texts...

just keep reading and choose something that appeals to you. If you read lots of things (and don't do what your friends are doing, that always helps), then you're sure to pick something just a little unusual, because most people do what their friends are doing, their teacher has mentioned, or...

    Text Books- aaargh!

How freaking expensive is it just to do an Arts degree? They say "oh, you don't really need this... but if you don't get it your marks go through the toilet! And what's with the $30 course readers which are thinner than the one I paid $16.50 for last semester (same subject and everything!)...

Any help on the importance of the greek victory at Marathon

well the books I used were Bradley (you can't quote her, but she's good for starters), Bury and Meiggs, Herodotos and Plutarch. Also the Macquarie Study Guide and the BOS study guide (I prefer the older one, if you can still get it- the one that's in one book- the questions are harder but you...

    Am i screwed?

remember... you're never screwed. The HSC exam itself can negate the problems you had with internal work. Good luck!
