    class participation-do they actually care?

I disagree with CP marks. In theory they're suppose to encourage everyone to prepare for class and contribute to discussion but often makes people talk for the sake of it.

    unsw or usyd?

Having gone through a crapload of recruiting, imho the reputation of the BCom's are as follows. UNSW -> (small gap) -> USyd -> (substantial gap) -> UTS/Macq As for whether any course is more practical than another, I can only speak from my experience at USyd (do note I finished my BCom 2...

have you ever done well in a law exam even though you thought you stuffed up badly?

I've had many many law exams where I walked out wanting to cry, and holding on to my notes just in case I failed, but I haven't come close to failing yet *touch wood*

    B. Commerce - Halp

If it's a front office position, the UTS resume will have little to no chance. It's already been mentioned plenty of times in this thread, to maximise your opportunities go to a GO8 uni.

    Graduate pay

Mid tiers don't 'compete' with big 4. They will ding you immediately if they know or suspect you already have a big 4 offer unless you're super convincing that God placed you on this Earth to work for their firm.

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

Also note that the big 4 aren't only competing against each other but also against other employers like corporates and banks. It just makes no sense to lose their picking of the best talent just so they can abide by some voluntary code of conduct. Also are the offer deadlines still the same...

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

Do note that these rankings measure the overall strength and reputation of the firm's entire tax practice. Naturally, each firm will be stronger in some areas than others. For example, EY is particularly strong in the media sector while PwC is a powerhouse in financial services.

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

Whilst its true that there's more places generally available come graduate apps since many companies don't have summer programs, if you want to work in a particular firm which DOES have a summer program, it's actually a lot tougher to get in come graduate recruitment, in terms of the applicants...

If the grad interview is anything to go by, the first round KPMG interview will be with a partner and manager. Questions include why KPMG, why the specific service line, couple of behaviourals and then a scenario question (such as the ones they ask in management consulting). They'll help you get...

    Investment Banking Internships 2008

Generally, it is much more difficult to secure a graduate position directly rather than through an internship (this applies to big 4, ib's, law firms and most large corporates who have vacation programs). For example, UBS last year took in 14 interns in their ib division, 6 of whom were made...

    PwC or EY...

I had this dilemma a couple months ago, albeit it was for a graduate position. Here's the thread: http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=172717 Both are really fantastic firms and you can't go wrong with either.

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

After the conclusion of graduate recruitment season, PwC (as well as other firms) request you complete their feedback form to help them improve recruitment practices. The questions included "what do you think of champagne as the offer gift?" and "what do you suggest as an offer gift?" and I...
